does 4 inch tubing fit all of the way to the inlet? I see most of the kits you buy neck back down to 3.5 even though the inlet is 4 inch. Not that it makes a big difference for flow or anything, but it would make building the mouth piece easier for me.

You can make your own intake using a 90* & 45* 4" piping. Then get a 4-5" adapter pipe. Grab a piece of flat stock from a local hardware store to make a bracket. I had a buddy machine me a maf plate or you could buy one. Then get an air filter and for around $150 you can make your own intake.

I should add that you'll need to be able to weld everything together also.

I added a pic of 1 I made

I already have a pretty nice full 4 inch intake with an S and B dry filter. I was just going to build my own mouth piece that leads to the intake I have already. Is that something that would work?

I made 42lbs on my 66 in 5th gear on my hot tune. I wouldn't worry about making over 40 lbs.

I think you're over thinking this to much

X2.... Our shop truck (stock motor, studs, etc) has a 475 over stock and touches 50 lbs on the hottest tune. 300k mile truck....

The 55lbs mark is where stock motors can get sketchy.... Unless drive is really high, that creates heat and pressure =death to motor eventually. Well, what am I saying... ALL INCREASE IN POWER =DEATH EVENTUALLY. Haha!

Just an FYI, the HTT kits include the 4" intake adapter tube for lb7 trucks and uses a 2-PC down pipe so install is a bit easier. They also offer the kits in gated t3 or non-gated t4. Quite a few turbo sizes available as well.

That is exactly what I did and it works fine. I used a 4" 90* silicone boot to connect the turbo to a piece of 4" pipe which I tied to my S&B LBZ CAI. I have an LLY.

Im doing my best to over think this lol. I DO NOT have the money for a head gasket repair and studs. let alone a few shortened rods. thanks for the words of wisdom guys. And thanks for the offer on the turbo. Id love to but i was planning on spending closer to 600-700 on the charger brand new. I think a regular out of the box 66 is a good starting point for me.

I made 44 pounds and about 575 rear wheel with my old lb7 running gt4088R. no head gasket issues.

I turned my tuning down and now my truck won't burn coolant or puke it up anymore. I did change my coolant cap at the same time I turned the tunes down. So I'm not sure if the gaskets are indeed the issue. I'm still taking it easy either eay

gotcha. It shouldnt be too hard for me to have the dsp on a lower setting for daily driving. Still searching for a Down pipe. The fleece one doesnt seem complete? is it a 2 piece style?

Personally I like the idea of running an internally gated T3 turbo with stock fueling. Good low end response, plus it makes it easier to plumb into a compound kit if you decide to add a turbo. No need to add in an external gate.
