I been reading about this pump ring after market kit fix.. that its a sure thing that if you don't change the oem ring you will sooner or later blow out a hole in the transfer case due to fulid leaking out

Pretty much.It got me and both my parents work trucks.1 Of which has never seen a winter and should have never been in 4x4 and their other truck is driven so easy it's amazing he can even vet it to 55, he is an old truck driver and drive es real easy.I expected mine to go because I was pretty hard on it.

Pump rub is not dependent on 4WD use as the pump is on the output shaft of the transfer case. Mine wore a hole in the case at 103k and probably had less than 1k miles in 4WD it.

Best thing to do is throw your transfer case away and put a np273(ford) tcase in it. I've been fighting a leaky 261 for 4 yrs. bout to convert mine over

The kit is not hard to install. The case doesn't weigh much, you just pull the drive shafts, the transmission cross brace and unbolt the mount and seperate from the trans. Only trouble I had was I forgot to remove the speed sensor and the case wont split with it in place. Removed the speed sensor and split the case, the install is straight forward.

The PVC pipe was nice to get it started.

Is it possible to put kit in and leave transfer case in place .pull rear shaft and pull tail end of transfer case out then install new kit
I dont think the cross member with the mount on it will allow this, its in the way. Its really not hard to pull the case you'll probably spend an extra hour total pulling it and putting it back in.
