Texas Y'all
IMO most dmaxes don't dyno with a darn, not sure why but I could never build much boost on any dyno, damn near burned up my brakes trying. Not sure if it's because the heads flow so well or what. Totally different story on the track.

X2, i could only make 876hp holding the brakes to spool the chargers, even on our best dyno run we only seen about 50lbs of boost, on the street it makes 75+

I completely agree as well, Ken...duramax's always seem to dyno low...

The tune that pushed my 7680lb truck (with me in it) 108mph in the 1/4 mile dyno'd like 430rwhp.

i thought i read sometime long ago that if one was to machine billet caps they could model them off the stock ones and not have to align bore them...is that true?

Again this is not my field of expertise but I think I remember someone saying due to the fast the caps are harder that is the reason you have to align bore?

There will be some variance in caps from block to block and main to main. You really need to align bore or at a minimum align hone any time you change caps. I think the reason they say you need to align hone with the new billet caps is because they leave a little extra material to make sure it isn't too big, and it would probably be a little tough to cut out enough material with a hone. Of course, that just a WAG.

Is there any concern with billet main caps expanding and contracting at different rates than the block beings they are two different materials?

That used to be a big reason I was leaning on toward buying a Cummins instead of a Duramax... Figured I'd be blowing head gasket's left and right, but so far so good.... So maybe that's not as big of a concern as many people may have thought.

Don't know how relivent this is but I spoke with guy at the pulls yesterday that recently windowed his block after 19 pulls on a built motor. He said it dyno'd 819 I believe. Anyways Mark (Danville) built his new motor and installed a girdle in this build. I guess time will tell if this was/is part of the sollution?????? It did Look and sound bad a$$ pulling yesterday, actually it broke the sled:mad:

No, there is no concern there. Aluminum blocks use billet steel caps. :thumb:

John windowed his original stock motor after he installed dual fuelers, A5K, 100hp II injectors and Hot +2... Yes his new motor is fully built Socal motor w/Socal Billet caps with a PowerMax girdle kit and one of my custom 3" charger setups and is pretty strong. Do you have a video of this hook as I haven't seen it pull since I finished it? Would love to see it.

John had the second furthest pull untill the P.O.S. sled broke for the final time. Heres a video of the john deer powered ford that won, if you can call it that.
