Getting Rid of that Annoying DING DING DING!!

Well, I've had enough of it and finally did something about it.. at least a solution that I'm happy with and am able to live with!

Couple weeks ago i put a pioneer double din in, the wiring harness had a black box that you could adjust the Factory Bose amp.. which i turned up and the sound was amazing.. completely different system!!

But this came with the Loud DING DING DING DING DING.. with every time the door was opened or the part that bugged me the most was when starting the truck and the 5 amazingly loud dings letting you know that you were starting your truck???

Anyway i did away with it with a simple Switch that shuts off the Driver Side Door Speaker. I've looked and looked and couldn't find anyway to do away with it all together so this will do for me..

i found the group of wires that come from the door and into the cab and they run to, and plug in to the little triangle shaped fuse panel by the kick panel ,, the wire your looking for is the light grey wire that is wrapped up with with light brown. You can't miss it when you pull with black tape back from the string of wires.

After the truck is done letting me know that I'm starting it, i turn the speaker back on so that i have sound coming through all 4 doors again.. sometimes i forget to turn it back on but, Hey, its still better then listening to that damn Chime!!!!! :thumb:

Some of those boxes have a dinger volume adjustment

Mine has that with the Wiring Harness for the New Stereo but when i turn it down my sound is terrible.. Hence all thats doing is turning your bose amp up or down..

Trying figure out how to get some pics up so its a little easier to understand…

you could always add an oil pressure switch that activates a relay to the speaker but that is probably overkill

or a time delay relay powered from the RAP

Yes both those would have worked but in the 20 mins that I figured it out and got rid of that dinging, I'm happy with it.... For now ha

I seem to remember an updated TIS program for the radio that reduced chime volume, too. Could be your truck was never updated.

its the green wire in the Farthest Right connector… A1 i did that earlier and all it disables is the Door Open Chime. Doesn't get rid of the Key in Ignition Chime when your starting the truck

wait till you leave the key in the ignition and fight the drivers door lock..... without the ding ding ding it didn't register at first it was kinda like this box

Actually no. That only disables the DOOR OPEN/key in ignition chime.

Its still gonna chime when you start the truck.......

I found a easy way to avoid the ding ding ding at startup. On my truck, if I close the door and buckle the driver's seat belt before I turn the key, it won't ding at all, just starts.

It does take me a few seconds longer to get going. If I am in a hurry, I have the key on before I even climb in, so the glow plugs are warming while I climb in. By the time I am in and the door closed, I can fire it up, and while I wait for it to build oil pressure, I can buckle up. But if I am not in a hurry (or the truck is cold and I will be waiting for it to warm up anyway), I will get all strapped in before I touch the key so it doesn't ding at me.

More on topic, I am surprised that your integration module adjusts the ding volume by adjusting the entire amp gain, instead of adjusting the volume of the chime sound it feeds to the amp. I think that is the real root of your problem there. Though I don't know if anyone makes a better integration module, so maybe you're SOL.
