I found a easy way to avoid the ding ding ding at startup. On my truck, if I close the door and buckle the driver's seat belt before I turn the key, it won't ding at all, just starts.

It does take me a few seconds longer to get going. If I am in a hurry, I have the key on before I even climb in, so the glow plugs are warming while I climb in. By the time I am in and the door closed, I can fire it up, and while I wait for it to build oil pressure, I can buckle up. But if I am not in a hurry (or the truck is cold and I will be waiting for it to warm up anyway), I will get all strapped in before I touch the key so it doesn't ding at me.

More on topic, I am surprised that your integration module adjusts the ding volume by adjusting the entire amp gain, instead of adjusting the volume of the chime sound it feeds to the amp. I think that is the real root of your problem there. Though I don't know if anyone makes a better integration module, so maybe you're SOL.

Hmm I wonder if you could find just the seatbelt piece that clicks in and just leave it in there.. Or just leave your seatbelt hooked up.. I know I should wear it but I hate the things and I'm in and out running around town all day so it doesn't even cross my mind

You could try and find the wire, and then short it out or leave it open (whichever it does when your seat belt is on). That way you could still put the seat belt on at your leisure, but it wouldn't nag you.

I was thinking I was crazy and neglectful because I don't remember the ding at start up. I think I figured it out. I un plugged my seat belt dinger 6 months ago. Free and takes 3.5 seconds.

Right, I should have clarified...if the belt is buckled before the truck is started, there will be no chime when you start the truck.

So I guess you could disconnect the seatbelt switch, or jumper the wires or something...along with the key-in-ignition wire disconnected...that should disable all chimes except when you have low fuel, or some other high priority alert (oil pressure, coolant temp, brake problem, etc)

The seat belt was disconnected but I just realized I disconnected the seat belt wire from the connector under the seat :thumb:
