Mine is the same, I just go off of fuel used, it's more accurate than fuel gauge.

Makes me nervous... lol. How many miles do you get on a tank? According to the truck im averaging 18. Which is way more than I expected. Not sure if that is accurate

I finally just switched out my fuel level Sensor a few weeks ago. I got tired of my wife telling me I’m almost out of fuel when I know there’s at least 10 gallons after it hits E.

So did that fix it?

Yes, but I knew it had been the issue for years from troubleshooting it. GM has pretty wide spread issues with the fuel level sensors. So it's even a good bet if you don't troubleshoot it. It could be wiring or even a cluster problem which are uncommon on LBZs. Just so you know most of the time GMs fuel gauges hit E when you have 4-6 gal left in the tank. So your not going to see a big change but it does ease your mind some.

The past few years I just knew I can go another 200 miles after I hit E. Unless I'm towing that is.

I had the same issue. Was able to drive about 200 miles before needing to fill up after the light came on

But for me, the motivation came from running out of fuel "thinking" I still had a little bit more left in her, "I can make it..." I was using the fuel used meter and ran out several times.

200 miles leaves a lot of room for error. Headwind, tailwind, up hill, down hill, hauling or not, weather, etc. The gallons used can be pretty accurate but even if off by one gallon that could be 40 miles or more, 20 miles over or 20 miles under???

I don't trust the DIC for nothing often it's about 2gal off, but can be way off when driving harder.
