I guess 770john can't read. Mike stated can spike to 200 psi but normally runs around 83. So he could drive it out of the drive way and all over town. When it spikes it will blow the hoses off. :joker:

You honestly think theres 200psi on that cooler up front??? I dont!

I can attest to the amount of pressure at the cooler lines and Mike is 100% correct , I blew my hose off i had rigged up when i first got my truck running , it didnt do it until about 15 WOT runs though , but hose clamps would not hold it but if you clamped it just right or enough it could hold . It can be plumbed the right way though , push lock hose and fittings are rated for 300 PSI especially if you clamp them , the best option would to have fittings TIG welded to it for the stock lines but then the Budget theroy goes away unless you can weld them your self and have to find Aluminum fittings . I told Josh to try to get me one to play with , its a big cooler for sure and looks like a decent piece short of the fitting style .

Still need AN lines for it? Or not with the supercooler?

For the 01-05 trucks the B&M SUPERCOOLER is an almost direct fit swap. The factory cooler uses 1/2 NPT just like the B&M cooler does, and it is the same width and thickness as the stocker. You can get them all the way up to 11"s high though VS the stock 4 1/2" one. 06+ use a completely different cooler set-up though.

Some of the LB7's dont have the NPT style fittings , I have one off of an 03 that isnt NPT . But ya some are NTP thread .

Yeah, I forgot that 01-early 03 were 1/2" NPT and 03+ were -10 AN O-ring seal. You could always find some 01-02 fittings and use the B&M cooler.

Heres the same basic cooler that I have from my 01 donor.

ANd you can get it in a pretty healthy sized one too.

why is it on this forum whenever sombody posts something up about what their trying out, it always starts a pissing match. im glad you dont think its a good idea tom...so dont do it. people act like i was trying to sell something. i just tryed to post up about something i did that i thought might help out a little if you knew somebody that worked for ford or whatever. if i was going to actually go out and buy a cooler and spend a few hundred dollars on one, i would probably just get a mike l cooler since its a direct fit. people seem to get all butt hurt about everything now-a-days. its working for me right now, im sure it will probably blow up in my face and thats fine, ill do something different when it blows out. i guess what i really should do is put the piece of shit stock one back on and let the trans fry itself...how about that everybody, does that sound like a better idea to you guys, i mean im trying to get your guys approval here, before i do anything.

I posted some tech info here to try and help. Not butt hurt at all especially over you. By the way, I buy those coolers all the time for the 7.3 Fords as they work great but a little pricy at 534.00.

Never said you had to go buy a MikeL cooler, or any other cooler for that matter. Never said you were trying to sell anything, either. Im not even "backing" Mike, like you accuse some other forum members of. Its just common sense. It was troubling that you chose to completely ignore Mike's advice, though. When I read Mike's post, and realized the pressures going thru the cooler lines, most sane people would realize that regular hose and clamps just isnt up to snuff. IMO, a person should stick with hard line connections meant for those pressures. Push-locs would work, too...but you still have to change the fittings to get them to work as advertised, too. How many DIYers have access to the welding expertise it would take to switch them over? Not many.

Anyway, please cut the drama. Its not "all about you". Bringing new ideas to the forum is a good thing, but some of those ideas just dont pan out, its just one of those things. If the cooler had hard line fittings, or even push-locs, then it would be a decent alternative to our stock setup.

Would you really want to have someone take your advice, install a cooler like this, then dump all their trans fluid out on the track when one of those lines blow off?
Would you take responsibility for that?

Cool find, im sure you can make it work, and still be cheaper than an aftermarket unit. That was also good advice that Mike gave, but theres no need to drag it all out and argue about it. Maybe sometimes it is best to see what works for yourself instead of just listening to someone say it wont. There was a lot of advice i have been given, some good some bad. Take for example everyone told me if i ran my ficm dry, it would go hay wire, guess what, did it all last year knowing it could fry, and it turned out just fine, or how about the fact that everyone says lbz pistons dont last, yet Troy Wakeman, i would say the top 2.8 duramax in the country has ran them for 3 seasons.

Now i know all these examples are different, but theres no need to call anybody "insane" for not listening to advice. The advice was good, there was no need for critisizm after that.

On note, i see where he said it might blow off at the track tommorow, so i really dont see how the advice was ignored? Besides he didnt run straight out to the truck and remove it? Anyways...

I did read your post, all i said is that you posted good info, i was referring to all the other bs afterwards. I never said you said it would not work., so maybe you should go back and re read what i said. I did say that you shouldnt always just listen to advice or people saying it wouldnt work, did i say you said that? No! Nor was i talking about you, you pretty much just put words in my mouth, your always on defense lately, then you run your mouth about someone whos not even talking about you. Id hate to have your attitude about things, you know that kind of shit shaves years off your life.

Don't need your advice on what will save my life and I don't put words in your mouth. try reading again.

i got your little bitch right here in my pants, you old fuk. i wasnt talking to you in my post. i actually said i wasnt aware of the pressures until you posted it. what i responded with had nothing to do with you at all, but like everything else here, you make it about you. hey ill take my chances with the cooler, seeing as how you've been wrong all 3 times in diagnosing my trans issues, ill take a gamble on this one, dick. why dont you not worry about me and go sell somebody some parts they dont need. go ahead and erase this post to, see whos the little bitch.
