Ford 6.7

Anyone got any experience with them? Buddy of mine is looking at 11-14 models with around 100k on em. I hate to say it but they are damn good looking trucks, the interior is really nice. I told him the 6.0 and 6.4 are a no no, but I have not heard much on the 6.7 either way. I tried to convert him but it isn't happening.

I went with a friend of mine on a 1000 mile round trip run towing 15k on his 17 f350 Platinum.

I was more than impressed.

My dad has a 2016 and my girlfriend has a 2011 along with her whole family running a fleet of 6.7's on the farm, very impressed with them.

I maintain a fleet of f550 bucket trucks at work. The 6.7's seem to run pretty good. pretty much just see them for services and keep running them. They are serviced at regular intervals. Only seen a few def heater issues with the 6.7's we have.

We also have a pile of 6.4's and for the most part they have held up well too. Had some engine problems a while back but now they're going strong. I have 1 right now with 245k miles and 13500 engine hours on the original engine and it runs like a top.

I had a 13 6.7 in between my last Duramax's. Guess I am the odd man out when I say I wasn't impressed. Not to mention a lot of turbo issues like stated above.

I just bought one and love it. Honestly the only thing I miss about the Duramax was a little smoother ride. Mine is a 15 so I have the regular vgt turbo not the stupid twin compressor one. I loved mine at stock power but now that it's tuned it's even better. The Duramax feel a little more sporty. Probably because they're lower and lighter. But it's still no slouch. It pulls awesome, the exhaust brake is ridiculous, 20+ psi braking boost just in tow haul. If you manually downshift and wind it up over 3k rpms it'll build close to 30. The electric rear locker has already saved my ass twice. All in all I'd do it again, but I'd try to get into a 15 or 16 for the better turbo.

Didn't 11-12 6.7's have problem's dropping exhaust seats? I know it was mostly in the f-450/f-550, but didn't some f-250/f-350's have problem's? I would avoid the 6.4l, but the 6.0l after some mods seems to be alright. Theres a guy on youtube from Georgia that does nothing but powerstrokes, and he has alot of videos of things to look out for on each model.

I've been debating getting one myself, they're nice if you plan to leave them stock, if you want to mod one you need the patience of mr meiogi and a real job or sell drugs to afford it.

Last I heard the 6.7 cab and chassis trucks were the ones having issues with that.

Our company trucks were cab and chassis trucks before they went to Altec for buckets and tool bodies. Without looking it up we probably have about 300 of them in the whole company and I haven't heard of any having issues with the exhaust valves.

No, they're just as easy as a Duramax. Actually even easier to remove the under hood parts. I think he's probably talking about built trans, engine, big fuel, big air. A good built 6r100 is thousands more than an Allison.
Friend of mine has an 11 with just a delete, and hes had nothing but problems with abs ghost codes since deleting his. He's looking for a suburban to build a duraburb as hes tired of the 6.7l.
Like any truck I think it depends a lot on the tune. My truck was done with a junk stock power tune before I got it. The exhaust brake didn't work, shifts were harsh at times and it wouldn't connect to a good scan tool. Just the cheap code readers. And it did have some ghost codes. But I spent the money on an sct x4 with good custom tunes and it instantly behaved and worked like a totally stock truck, just with more power and a little lighter .

Yes your correct but you can drop a 15 turbo swap in them for a little over 2k and it's solid.

Don't they have the same CP4 problems as the LML's do?

Yes they do. Ford sells a complete fuel system for them now.

We see turbos, radiators, oil feed lines, and emission failures a lot lately on the earlier 6.7.

Fords radiators have sucked since the 6.4s for some reason. Lol.

The fittings on the turbos are known for leaking also.

I have always liked my Dmax trucks but I will say, I do like this Ford. The power is good, its simple to put on weight loss and has some nice creature comforts. Obviously, GMs ride a lot better.
