You're of average intelligence (giving you a lot more credit than deserved), and you are "truth-impaired", yet you proclaim yourself above everyone, which doesn't seem to be a good match.

I tried to warn you. Do ya believe me now ?

If I admit it, will you take Wade back? :D

NO thanks...you can keep him.

Actually..he's back on our site too. We've known for a while but just recently ratted him out to everyone with a nice little name change.
It was Sam...now it's Dumb Ass Wade.

Maybe we can do it the way the NFL does or something?

I'll trade Wade for a blind paraplegic leper playing second-string kicker.

How much $$$ will we have give you for the Leper if you take Wade?

I can think of a Leper or 2 we can afford to lose....but I still feel like we'd be getting the short end of the deal.

Seriously, aluminum rods are a good discussion point.

But it boils down to context.

A diesel-powered dragster is a very slow dragster. A diesel-powered funnycar is a slow funny car.

What makes diesels special then? Certainly not excellent power-to-weight ratios, or all-out performance. 2000HP impresses us diesel guys, but is nothing for max effort dragsters.

Diesels are special because how fast we can make the "slowest" vehicles on the highway. When I was growing up, a diesel pickup defined the term "slug". If you looked in the dictionary under slug, diesel pickup was one of the listings.

When you show up in a 3/4-ton pickup at the local dragstrip and wipe out Mustangs with it, it attracts attention. When they find out it's a diesel, their jaws drop. When you tell them it gets 20mpg and you can tow a 14,000lb trailer with it, they start to drool.

Aluminum rods are for pure racecars, not even roadracers will run them. Telling folk you need to replace your rods every 10 passes won't exactly make a lot of new diesel fans, IMO.

My question is can a diesel engine be made to run with top fuel dragsters? 6,000hp or so?

I have forged 6AL 4V bar stock and someone to heat treat them.....just no one to machine them.....wanna try:D

In a previous life, I machined a lot of titanium for weapons systems. I know how, and it's touchy. If you allow the tool to dull, or the part to get hot, you will scrap it. Sharp carbide tools at the right feed and chip load with flood cooling, and it cuts like butter. Get is a rush and take short cuts, and you're going to be buying more stock.
