filtration and lift pump?

Im going to be getting a lift pump very soon but i was thinking i might be able to save some money by buying a standalone pump like a raptor without the filter manifold and instead buying a cat 2 micron filter adapter for the stock filter head. What is everyones opinion?

your look at around 480 for a raptor and nicktane adapter as opposed to low 600's for an AD2... if you wanna save the 150 bucks or so i say do it...

When I recover from injectors I'll be going with the airdog. I want as many filters before those picky injectors as possible! :woott:

Another option would be to get a cat filter. Sell em at napa for $40 iirc

I used to run the PPE and a stock filter, but the stocker had to go for the triples. I added the CAT filters behind my PPE.

The only real thing I did differently was to put a bypass valve (that I normally keep closed) around the PPE pump in case the pump died while I was on the road (then I will just reach down and open the valve and I can get home on a smaller tune). My PPE will only hold about 2000 RPM before the CP3 starves and the truck falls on it's nose.

I have never had a problem, but I always worry about the lift pump in cold weather.

are you saying the ppe doesnt pump enough to keep your cp3 adequately supplied above 2000rpm?

do not get a PPE pump. they are trash. There is a reason they are cheap.

Nope, didn't mean that. It does not free flow when the pump is OFF.

I have heard that, but mine has been good for 2 years. It has worked great for me.

It's one of those products that you can get lemons or have one work for 5 years without any issues. To be honest, every lift pump sucks. :roflmao: I just prefer a free flow design so if say the pump does die, you're not stranded if you don't have a bypass.

Looks like 2 years, with all of the regular disclaimers, etc.

I bought mine used after a PPE refresh with a new motor and pump vanes. No warranty for me! :roflmao:

The nice thing is that you can get replacement parts for the PPE pump (at least they advertise them on their site).

I had my PPE fail about 2 months in. Pull over and hit it with a rock and it was good to go for another day haha. PPE warrantied it minus shipping. It was also quieter the second time around. Been good for almost 2 years now!

I recently purchased but have yet to install an Aeromotive pump assembly. I bought the pump (regulated at 5-6psi), pump relay kit with oil pressure switch and misc brass fittings for around 250.00. Hope to get it installed this weekend. I just couldn't pony up the $$$$ needed to get the turn key system so many are currently using.

Iv been looking at the Kennedy twin pump/filter kit. The pumps are flow through if they die and there smaller and look Easier to mount to me. Anyone herd anything about them?
