Just did this mod tonight in about 45 min. I took the hood off to do it. Just made it easier to work. Didn't change the plastic cowl piece though. Very easy and looks good.

I am getting that I listen to XM 99.9% of the time so the regular antenna is worthless to me anyways.

Since you use a radio station for the XM it still wouldn't have an effect ??
Just out of curiosity what does the escalade use for an antenna, in the glass?
Is it pretty much the same for the GMC's as far as the part and the work?

I did this this morning. It took about ten minutes after I ground the bracket down to the size I wanted. I tucked it under the weather stripping and the lip of the fender.

I'm alittle confused, what part does that part number go with? seems all you guys did was fab up a different bracket and thats it

The part number that you order is a replacement trim piece for the cowl, it is the far passenger side cap were the original antenna came through, so you buy the piece move the antenna mount and put the new cover on, It works great, did mine today, looks awsome without a antenna,

I didn't buy the new cowl cover. I will eventually, but the dealer wanted 36 bones for it so I told them to stuff it....... I love driving down the highway at 80 without that piece of crap blowing everywhere. It was crazy distracting.

Was bored today and.......................

Only thing was I think the strap needs to be 1 1/4" Other than that a nice project to work on in the shade. On a GMC:
