No problems for me.. Mines been done this way for quite some time now and Im very happy with it.. You dont have any bare wire showing do you? like on the antenna there is a little wire wrapped around it all the way up, if its grounding out that might hinder your reception..
I used a piece of metal strap material from "Lowes" "$5.00" and bent it with pliers to fit. What did you use for the bracket? The antenna needs a good ground for good function
tools used:
7mm socket
small crescent
saw zaw
vice
drill
dremel
belt sander
Parts:
1" x 5" metal strap
screws
dynomat
Took antenna off, made a template out of a business card to match antenna base, drilled metal strap then bent it 90* to hold antenna in place, used dynomat to hold antenna againest body to keep in place
I am getting that I listen to XM 99.9% of the time so the regular antenna is worthless to me anyways.
Nice!
Larry, you know you really should'nt wear sandals when drilling metal!
I havent had a problem with reception so I havent tried the cowl areaHey guys this is a great idea. Larry, did you ever move yours to the front cowl position (see response 12/19/08 @ 11:34 P.M.)? Has anyone else moved theirs to the front cowl? Just curious if reception is better under the cowl than under the hood.

this is a factory antenna delete used on escalades and will work on all trucks 99-06 and 07 classics.
