Falling on face, overheating, high egt

A lot of this can be looked at with either an autocal to log it or an edge insight can tell rail desired and actual plus fuel temp.


I know... i'm working on it, my wife wanted to be helpful without understanding and bought me a scanner for $150 but it doen't quite do what i'm needing.

It very well could be tuning I forgot all about the high EGTs when I read it was doing it at 4/5 gear change. You may have multiple problems. It can be dam hard to diagnose without better history. I hope it turns out to be something simple.

If needed we can figure out some time next week and we will put my insight in your truck and see what it's showing. Try something out. Turn it to your stock tune give it full throttle from a stop and see if it falls on it's face up in higher gears.

I have left it on stock for a few days, it still does it, less often and not only at higher gears

Update, went to confirm the EGR blocker plate, appears to not be blocked. Also, a bolt just forward of where it would go is missing.....

Why don't you have Weston log the truck for you? Have you talked to
him?

I wouldn't spend $500 bucks on new tunes until you properly diagnosed the truck.

i have tried, i have a pretty busy schedule so i arrange a rough time with him and tell him ill call when i'm on my way, then can't get hold of him after that. I imagine its just cause we are both so busy with conflicting schedules. but whatever the case is, can't seem to get hold of him when it works. Who did your EFI here in utah?

Btw Kyle you can't go wrong with robs tuning, he and the guys at ATP are great always get back to me right away with any questions I have.

I'm just really struggling to pay almost 700 more for something i already paid 500 for when i don't even know enough to know if its the problem. but if i do pull that trigger it will be coming from rob

I have my own V2...

I have tuning from Zach at STARLITE diesel ( rents outs a office out of so Industrial Injection ) and also Tuning from Ridge Runner Diesel Performance.

If the EGR is shut off in the tune and it isn't blocked, that causes issues. Especially with LBZ's. Also the 5" intake can mess things up also if it isn't tuned for.

it is shut off in the tune cause like an idiot i never checked til today and just took the guys word from it where i bought it from, ill be doing that right away and also replacing the missing bolt directly in front of where that goes, hope that solves some of these issues.

Unplug the egr valve and try it. Sounds like your problem...

Especially if it's tuned off and not blocked!

Thanks everyone for helping out, blocker plate and lift pump ordered today and on their way, full coolant flush done excessively yesterday, will install this two parts and go from there

Did the blocker, zero effect. And boost still won't pass 24 when tune calls for 32. I think im going to put a 4094 on our (turbo sounds kinda unhealthy too) and see what it does. Anyone know max boost my bottom end can handle so I can make sure my tune guy doesn't get carried away after? (Motor is stock add far as I know)
