Diesel and oil.... Might try that I just used oil thinned with mineral spirits so I could spray it on. To keep it black and keep the rust down.

My truck is on its third winter and the frame is rust free. Works awesome.

I painted the frame on my LLY and I was constantly wore brushing it and touching it up.

I'm confused what does the oil and diesel do? Are you using it to take the coating off or protecting it? What did you use to coat it with?

I use it to keep the coating soft so it doesn't get hard and crack and peel and let salt and dirt under it.

I used straight diesel on my LLY and it turned the coating to water and it rolled right off.

I'm going through this now on my frame. First I painted the frame with diesel, then scraped it and got the bulk of it off. Then coated it with gasoline since that seemed to work better. The problem I was having would be it would just smear everywhere after it had been melted. So now I have the frame coated in oven cleaner and we will see how it turns out in the morning.

Biggest problem with mine is I have the frame plasti dipped so there was a shit load of rubber on the frame.

How well did the oven cleaner work?

It's got to sit for 1 1/2 hours then pressure wash. From what I have read it works wonders on oil and grime. Not sure about factory wax though.

The oven cleaner worked really well but didn't get the areas really thick with wax. I ended up trying some sea foam on a rag and almost started crying. I wish I would've just used it to begin with lol. Here are a few pictures.

This is the thick wax area. I wish I would've taken a picture after I sea foamed it because I got it down to bare metal on 90% of it.

These are how it sits now the rust inhibitor base coat.

Still need to get both sides of the the frame rails. Not much rust on them and a lot of wax. Ended up using a putty knife sea foam and a heat gun for the really thick spots.

These back is finished waiting on my new leaf springs and hardware. I am dropping the back 3 inches lower than factory. The blocks are also out and so are the leafs.

Also my truck has a steel drive shaft is it safe to coat it as well with under coating or will it throw it out of balance?
Thanks
Greg

The final coat. All I have left is the drivers side. It's already cleaned and has a coat of rust reformer as soon as it dries it will be ready for the final coat.
