Making aluminum welds look good is easy. I see welds like that everyday. (looks and function) Nice job, but like Turbo Buick said, make it a little harder, upside down, though a mirror, etc.
Try welding on material that doesn't weld easily:angel:
I agree, challenge yourself!
Im pretty good at TIGing other materials, I out-welded my instructors and classmates @ wyotech We had the chute mount rip off of our Nova at 189mph once cause the chassis builder didnt fully weld the bracket and it pulled off Well luckily my dad didnt get hurt other than a sore back from tipping the car over at the end of the track but it did hurt the car, so I fired up the TIG and got some .088 wall chrom-moly tubing and went to work! Made up a nice new beefy chute mount! That was good experiance, welding around round tube, sideways, upside down, left-handed, etc!
I just have minimal aluminum/TIG experiance, need to practice some. I'm a cheapass and i like making/fabing my own things and since i have a crap back, i want one of thoes "teeter hang-ups" inversion table things, well screw $300 bucks, how about $50 of aluminum and some bearings! Plus i'll get the experiance and i gotta do a good job so it dosnt snap and i land on my noggin and kill more brain cells:rofl:
