I have a 06 6spd in a Toyota pickup behind a Detroit Diesel. I am using a medium duty A50 TCM that my Allison dealer flashed for me to match a 1000 series 6 spd to CAT 4cyl engine. When I first drove it, I had no lockup at all, it learned to shift all 6 gears nicely, and I was really happy with it except for no lockup and really poor fuel economy. It also had about 50 codes, and I couldn't get them to clear with any of my scantools.
Just recently I had some more time to play with it, so I connected EFI and proceeded to pull the cal, only to find EFI does not have my OS mapped out.
Now the strange part is after trying to pull the cal, I took it out on the road and BANG! I had tc lock. Just about jumped the truck in the air when it locked and unlocked about three times really quickly, but for the rest of the day it kept learning to shift better and I had lockup!
The next morning I had no lockup, but noticed if I drove it for a few miles, shut it off, restarted it, it would bang into lockup again, and it seemed like it had to re-learn shifting all over again as well.
The only code I have is P0960, whether it wants to lock or not, it's there.
I can force lockup at any time with my scan tool.
With the engine off I can command the G solenoid on and off and hear it click just fine. I have also wiggled all the wiring with an ohm meter across the TCM connector pins and it seems rock solid at about 23.5 ohms. The code always comes up immediately at startup.
I called Mike the other day and he suggested changing the G sol, which I did with no difference at all.
The only other thing I noticed different about this trans, is when it is in reverse, I can hear a slight hissing sound. The best way to describe the noise is the way a brand new clutch sounds when you lightly slip it, -ssssssssss, only here I'm sure it's fluid.
So Mike, I'm hoping after all this extra information is done making your brain spin, you might have some more ideas. And I'm sorry about posting my whole life story, but you never know what's going to be important!
Thanks for your help the other day, and maybe we can get this thing going here!
