The simple fact that rerouting your PCV keeps your engine cleaner isn't a good enough reason for you? pull off your intake tube and see how dirty it is... all that shit builds up in the heads and causes restrictions...

Whats the oil going to build up with when my EGR is blocked?

Hi guys im new to this forum but its already helped alot. I want to block off my egr but cant find a plate and im not good enough to make one myself. Where can i find a plate and or the fingerstick? Is the fingerstick worth it? I have been having a terrible time with my egr it actually gets stuck open on my 07 classic.

Alligator has the EGR blocker plate. And if you have the 07 Classic then I don't think the fingerstick applies. I thought that was for the LB7 or LLY maybe?

The fingerstick works in LLY+ including the LBZ... however with EFI Live the fingerstick is not needed

So what are to gains in HP then? I haven't seen any body with a PCV reroute post any higher then normal dyno #s. Not that that doesn't make perfect scene, but your post makes it sound like there is a substantial gain to be had. I not saying everyone should leave it, but in an only moderate built truck why. Also it is well proven that negative pressure in the crankcase increases power.

I have never heard of someone dynoing with an oily intercooler, then pulling it and washing it and plugging the pcv and then making another pull. I didn't say there was a large power gain to be had, I said there was a lot of heat transfer to be had. You would see this more in EGTs than power....not that there isn't power to be had. Try pulling your CAC and making a pull, I bet you won't see a huge drop in numbers. Have you ever hooked a vacuum gauge to your crankcase with the PCV on? At WOT it's not going to make vacuum, you would need a dry sump or vacuum pump to do so.

wow...some clarity here for the original question...?? which was EGR Blocker Plate and asking about (Im assuming), the Fingerstick electronic device that fools the ECM into thinking the EGR is working nominally.

Reason to block: # 1 Keeps your intake clean. If not blocked you will end up removing it at some point and having to clean all of the baked on soot..no fun I am told.

Reason to block # 2 I believe that by blocking it will allow a certain higher percentage of Oxygen to be ingested into ones motor dduting the intake phase..

Fingerstick (So called after its inventor "Fingers), is as noted above, the device to install into your harness if you do not plan on adding a Programmer right away. I do not know which ones (programmers), will and which ones don't block the CEL from coming on. For me, I have a Banks 6gun PDA..but put the fingerstick in anyway as it was my first mod about 110,000 miles ago...The banks came later. Good idea to do. Makes no sense putting particulate matter into your motor...as far as I am concerned. No Issues with the egr to date. At some point I may do as suggested and remove the whole system...but no rush eh.?

PCV re-route...?? sorry Dozer but that is definitely a "for sure" on my to do list.!! :D

Again all in my humble opinion.
Cheers,

theo

Come on is that the best you can do its "gross" and "some people don't care". I'm not really sure what gross about oil being blown through the intake of a truck. Now all the cow shit I had to wash off my truck the last time I got stuck in a pasture was a little gross. I care a lot, but I'm not a band wagon guy which it what this looks like to me.

I'm not above changing my mind, because there is a lot I don't know. I see some pros and cons thats it. Nothing that backs up that a PCV reroute should be done.

:D Would you prefer "yucky"

The real question is: Did you dyno your truck before and after you washed the cow dung off your truck? Cause without substantial dyno numbers "whats the point"? Right?

If you choose to cover the intake track with oil thats your choice and thats fine.......it is still gross:D Maybe you should try twinning the PCV:eek:

Report back with dyno numbers please:cool:

Reason for rerouting PCV

is because real diesels dump it on the ground:rofl:

Intercooler boots are more likely to come off and it deteriorates the boots faster.

it is far less important on a diesel than a gasser with a gasser the oil reduces the octane and makes the engine more likely to knock

Twining the PVC thats it. I bet if I route the intake right into the crank case all that negative pressure ought be worth 1000hp.

I've never blown off a boot not that that's saying much since I'm at the limit of the stock trans. Deteriorates them come on? There are stock trucks out there with 500K that the boots haven't rotted off of yet.

I'm still not sold on it anyone else? Maybe someday if I get a built engine or sick of it sucking 1 qt of oil out of my truck every 6K.

I did the the full EGR delete with Turbo Buicks delete pipe and I'm positive it gave me a few extra hp. It really cleans up the engine bay also. I'm almost positive my truck spools faster now.
