Brayden and Pat offer good perspective on our product. In addition to what they have said, I'll add that Cummins may have held up standalone features by about an hour or at most 2 hours.

This is because of the way our development team works - Ross does all the ECM mapping, Paul writes all the user software. They have completely different skill sets, use different programming languages, and have different development objectives. DSP for LBZ/LMM, the Cummins ECM, and our other soon to be announced ECM's have all been developed without using our standalone project resources.

We know our standalone project is behind in terms of release - this has been discussed many times before. This really isn't the place for it - take it up in one of those discussions.

Cheers
Cindy
I am not knocking EFILive at all. It is the best product on the market for the CR diesel engines out there. It just upsets me to see another EFI development other than your V2 interface.

I'm sorry if I hijacked the thread a little.

Carry on guys.

I think some of the Dodge guys are taking our comments way too serious. They need to read the banner at the top of the page and understand what this board is all about. It's about World Domination for the Duramax.

All the staff here are dyed-in-the-wool Bowtie enthusiasts. We aren't going to apologize for thinking our hotrods are the best.

The technology is currently in a constant state of change. What is fast today will change tomorrow. The Ford 6.4 is certainly going to a contender as well. Advanced digital tools for engine tuning are the future of diesel hotrodding, regardless of whether there is a sheep or a Viagra pill emblem on the tailgate or a real truck logo.

I agree...this is a DURAMAX site.

After being to many local events and a few national events, I have found that cummins drivers (other brands as well but cummins is most popular) fall into two categories in my mind...cummins owners, and cumminGs guys.

I can talk to a cummins owner, have a good conversation, and have respect for what he has accomplished/done with his truck. In fact, I have a few friends that are cummins owners that have very nice, fast and capable trucks.
CumminGs guys (Timbeaux made the term famous on DP iirc) who blindly follow the "c", have the fastest truck on the road in their mind, and have to rev the thing up and blow smoke at stoplights, etc, I have no time for. These are said retards who should let the tuning to professionals.

Like I said...I think the true cummins owner deserves it and it will make the Dmax stronger through innovation. I can't see it making a huge difference, though it will take away an excuse..."GM has EFI Live, if I had that..."

Has anything been said about the transmission if you will be able to tune your trans in any way type or form on the dodge? the ally you can but the 48re is alot different:confused:

Maybe possibly on the 68rfe, as its completely electronic. For the 48re...I kinda doubt it...

Heres something else to ponder.... Last I hear Cummins takes alot of offense with people trying to custom tune their engines... Hopefully a lawsuit won''t araise over this

Ive thought of that same thing. In fact, right after I initially read the thread on the EFILive Forum, that immediately popped into my head...

x2!!! I agree completely!!! Ive been trying to describe (the difference between a cummins guy and a cumminGs guy) forever because I know exactly what you are talking about but could never really put it into words...very well said. :thumb:

I am a Cummins owner, Heck I have two of them. Love the trucks. But with your statement above that is very easily said about GM guys, Ford guys, and the Dodge Guys. I could be "that guy" and go on and on about it but its cool. This is a Duramax site and it would be very stupid and pointless.

But there are alot of us looking forward to the EFIlive. The diesel shop I use is bias towards D-Max's and loves the EFIlive. He built a hand full of 1000hp+ CR5.9 (Don't think he has done it on a D-Max though). So I could only wonder what he would be able to do if he had the EFI for it.

For the 68RFE trannies. Yes there is one company that is tuning the trannies now. BGChrysler and he has worked with Ron at SunCoast on a complete tranny with hard parts and tuning. I am currently having a Tranny being rebuilt that BG and Ron just released a week or two ago. One of the test truck has been beating on it with 800hp+ (torque around 1600 to 1700ftlbs). He hauls 20klbs or better and has not been able to make it fail. (Though I think he is on his 4th Head Gasket, last one was Fire Ringed so he should be good) This is without any billet shafts also.

So the future for the 6.7/68RFE is very bright and is only getting better each day.

Now we are just going to make you D-Max guys work harder to be faster. All in good name of the sport. I think a Cummins still has the fastest 1/4 truck and strongest sled truck. (Don't throw Banks in because nobody has the endless resource that he has, not to mention he is a joke)

Yes, Banks does count. It's not a billet head or block. It's a Dmax.

Gale has been hotrodding and racing since before most all the Cummins God's were born, and he's actually fairly open about what's in his projects, and is very helpful and polite to other racers at the track. If more of the Cummins Gods were of the same caliber, the world would be a better place. Sadly, few are in real life.

Not sure if you Dodge guys know this, but he holds a lot of records dating back decades. Yes, even running a Cummins with one of them.

I'm not sponsored by Banks, nor am I a Bank's dealer. It's a mutual respect thing. We both enjoy hotrodding and racing. If you'd like to play "slander a race team", I don't think you're going to win.

I'll admit I'm confused though. Before Banks entered the Diesel Drag arena, all the Cummins guys bitched that Banks was afraid to run with the big dogs. Then when he does, they say, "yeah sure, you're faster, but that doesn't count, you need to beat us at sled pulling", and if he does, then it will Dyno Racing, then Show-n-Shine, then golf cart racing, then gardening, then stamp collecting, etc, etc, etc.

I'd much rather pit next to the Banks crew than many of the Cummins teams I've encountered. There are certainly exceptions (John Robinson, Jeff Garmon, etc, etc), but what you read on the internet is not even closely related to what is going on at the tracks.

Cummins is not the only one in the 9s with out EFI Live. G&J Diesel ran in the 9 with a PPE handheld.;)

There is a huge difference in a stock bodied truck and a tube chassis truck. Not taking anything away from G&J but the CR Dodge are doing it with another 1500-2000+lbs. That's not even on the same playing field.

I see why you would say, "well its still a Duramax". I don't consider Banks D-Max in the same field because the parts he uses is not openly sold to the public. If every part was for sale to you or to me then it would give you a leg to stand on. Comparing Banks truck to anyone of the big dogs is not apples to apples, not even if it was another High HP D-max.

Like I said before, If you can go to any diesel store or web site and buy every part he has on that engine then it would be fair game. But you can not, so how could you consider it to be fair game. How is it fair when his team of engineers design and build such a powerful engine and yet he won't offer it to his competitors for some good ole fashion competition. Why you ask, because he knows nobody can touch his R&D department.

When you drop over a Million dollars in R&D and then the build. You better have the fastest diesel. My respect goes to the guy that spends $20k and runs in the 10's or 9'

So in a way your saying, the injection pumps used in some of the TOP Dodge teams are sold to the public???? Dont think so!

So you are saying that all the Cummins-based racing efforts are built with 100% off the shelf parts?

Amazing. Not true, but amazing that anyone would be gullible enough to think that.

I suppose you even think the max effort 12v's run straight #2 pump diesel, and Banks is running CNG or Methanol.

The internet does strange things to people's IQ's.

You buy every part that Haisley or Scheid put in there trucks. They will even build you crate engine with however much HP you want. Hell they would even build you a complete copy of there sled trucks engine. There is no TOP secrets to a Cummins engine. Give it as much fuel as you can, and give it enough air to cool it.

No, There are thousands of customs parts you can buy for a Cummins, But they are available to the public unlike Banks super fast Duramax. You can not buy that engine from him, you can not buy those parts that make it what it is from him. Go and try to.

What, No, there is only so much power to be made on #2, However you build it and tune will dictate that. Or how deep your pocket it. That is why you see so many Bottle Feeding trucks these days.

Uh, you can buy the WHOLE ENGINE that is in the Banks dragster. Call them up. I can't afford one, but it's available.

Just like Scheid. Can't afford one of their's either.

Probably a Long Block from them, You still can not buy the parts that make that engine go. There are parts that he won't sell. That is all I am saying. If you can not own it how can you compare it. Don't ask me what parts because I don't care enough about them to remember.

Bully Dog might be the same way with there Diesel truck also, but they are not the fastest cummins either.
