EFILive V7.5.3 Released: Jan 8, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EFILive V7.5.3
Is now available as a stable, fully self-contained release.
This release is a full install, it is not a patch update. This release can be installed over all previous existing 7.5.x versions.
From V7.5.1 and later...
Upgrading the EFILive software will be automated and simple. After installing V7.5, the next time you restart Windows you will be asked to configure the EFILive automatic update scheduler. The scheduler will then check EFILive's web site on a regular basis (assuming you have an Internet connection) to see if there are any software updates available.
If there are updates available, they will be made available as patches (where possible), so that only the files that have changed will be downloaded (automatically if you configure it that way) to your computer.
The process is similar to the way the automated Windows Update operates.
Download the all new EFILive V7.5.3 here:
http://download2.efilive.com/Softwar...LiveV7_5_3.exe (1.4Mb)
The initial download is less than 2Mb, but when you install it, it will download other components of the installation (about 65Mb in total) as each component is required. Subsequent updates/downloads will only download a component if it has changed.
If you need to install V7.5.3 on computers that do not have internet access, please download and unzip this file:
http://download2.efilive.com/Softwar...etup_Files.zip (65Mb)
Then run the Setup.exe file that was unzipped.
After the installation is complete do not delete the unzipped files, they will be needed when EFILive releases updates to V7.5.3
For faster downloads
There are two files not included in the web download version of EFILive V7.5.3, they are:
Adobe Acrobate Reader V8.1 (22Mb)
Download Adobe 8.1 here, if required:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
The EFILive intro video (40Mb) which is the same as what is on the CD that shipped with your original purchase.
The good news is:
Starting with V7.5.1, we have changed our software distibution and update procedures. Instead of patches that require manual downloads and tedious file copying, we now provide a fully automated update and install system.
The bad news is:
That 7.5 does not "update" 7.4. Instead it is a completely new install. You may leave 7.4 installed and install 7.5 to co-exist on the same machine. That means that all your settings, tun files, log files, calcualted PIDs, dashboards, in fact everything that you have customized in V7.4 will NOT be automatically brought across into the new V7.5 installation. However, once V7.5 is installed, you can copy all your configurations from the V7.4 folders into the V7.5 folders.
See the ReadMe.rtf file in the V7.5 release for information on the folder name changes and registry key changes from V7.4 to V7.5
We recommend copying your own files from the following V7.4 folders to their V7.5 equivalents (overwriting files in the V7.5 folders is NOT recommended*):
\My Documents\EFILive\V7\bins to \My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\bins
\My Documents\EFILive\V7\Export layout to \My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\Export layout
\My Documents\EFILive\V7\Exported data to \My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\Exported data
\My Documents\EFILive\V7\Logged data to \My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\Logged data
\My Documents\EFILive\V7\Print reports to \My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\Print reports
\My Documents\EFILive\V7\User Configuration to \My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\User Configuration
\My Documents\EFILive\V7\VDash to \My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\VDash
You may copy your own files from the following V7.4 folders to their V7.5 equivalents (overwriting files in the V7.5 folders is NOT recommended*):
\My Documents\EFILive\V7\PIDs to \My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\PIDs
\My Documents\EFILive\V7\MAPs to \My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\MAPs
Note: many maps in the V7.5 MAPs folder are identical to the ones in the V7.4 MAPs folder, they just have different names. The names were changed to allow them to be written to CD). You should really only need to copy the *.map files that you have created or modified yourself.
* If/when you un-install V7.5, any files that were overwritten will not be uninstalled. That is because only unmodified files are uninstalled automatically. You would need to manually delete the files that are not uninstalled automatically.
