Are edge tuners any good for a lbz? Not looking for anything crazy just some better MPG. I met a guy with the same truck I have, doing the same thing I am (hauling boats around the country) and he said a trip to Key West from NJ and back has saved him $350 in fuel which is just what I need as I go to Cali every 6 weeks. Since the LBZ has enough power, I just want mpgs. Also my friend can buy these tuners, etc at cost so it will not break the bank for me. If these are ok, what tuner should I go with? Thanks to all!!

loves park, ill
i ran the edge on my truck and it didnt take long for it to start smoking blue smoke at idle and run like crap, then i got efi and its just so much better. The older duramaxs seem to have better luck then our newer lbz motors, its nice in the convience of gauges and everything in one but a dsp 5 switch with a good set of tunes and a decent set of gauges will do the same thing for you and help mileage in my opinion alot better then an edge box

X2 EFI would have been my first recommendation but he seemed set on an off the shelf unit his friend could hook him up on.

For an off teh shelf tuner for an LBZ it is hard to beat the DIABLO PREDATOR. it is priced right, and works nicely. Very smooth power, and very driveable with virtually no smoke. It lowers boost at cruise as well to help the MPG's out.

I love this site. Everyone is nice and willing to help out. So one Predator and one for Banks... I know everyone uses the EFI Live. I am leaving next Monday from RI to LA to Woodbridge VA to Key Largo and back RI. So something I could do this week even to get a mpg or 2 or 3 ;) would really help. I hate to have all my profit go to the oil companies...

Go with the Predator it is cheap and will give you some MPG. I know a few guys that run them and love them. But it is not going to give you what you could get with EFILive but you seem to know that.

I have no clue, what is the price difference from a good EFI tune vs a canned tuner? Seems like if you really care about every mpg it would be worth getting EFI where you can log and try some different stuff to get every little bit out of it.

I am going to air intake, exhaust and tuner...:D

Don't waste your money on an intake for an LBZ. The stock intake can support quite a bit of HP,filters better than most aftermarket units(for MUCH longer), and flows really well. The exhaust, tuner, block the EGR, and reroute the PCV are worth while mods.

That is good advise right there!
