yup. kid from UTI went on to explain to me how doing this method on a suzuki samurai will tell you if the valves are bad cause the motor will suck air back in as the piston goes down so the piece of paper will be sucked into the exhaust when it does this.

I had to take him back to engine basics 101, draw pictures, speak very slowly, and tell him "good job" many times when he finally started understanding things. i wish i was kidding but im not. ill see if i can find the old thread. ill have to copy it over as the board im on is private to only suzuki guys in AZ.

yeah i know. we are just all hick techs to them .

the best was after him understanding how this paper idea didnt work, he had determind his valve springs were bad letting the valves float at idle.

i started laughing my ass off and had to then explain again, that cant be cause it drives just fine, just smokes under decel. after all that he had bad rings, we all knew it but he wouldnt listen to us. finally he did listen and sure enough, new rebuilt bottom end went in with the same old stock head back on top and didnt smoke one bit.

Soon after, my buddy posts "be sure to tell us where you and your buddies get jobs so we can steer clear of those places, your 30k investment into this school is as worthless as my stocks in 2007" :rofl::rofl:

my issue is not how stupid they may be, its the attitude they carry. they might know quite a lot of shit but if they cant apply it correctly, does ya no good.

18 months and 15+k with the higher end adaptable EGT sensor (knocking on wood) still going strong!
