Wagler vs. Edelbrock

Looks like the Edelbrock have a raised intake runner, which wagler made a few sets of cast sets of too iirc. The applications they were used in would be able to run the billet heads, so I'm not sure what all happened there. The rocker shaft bolt pedestals look a lot bigger too, which wagler had already done, just not that big.
Seems like these might turn out good if they figure them out. Wagler I'm sure will still have them beat with the competition crowd because of his solid, iron, billet, etc options

My intention wasnt to ruffle your feathers. If you look at the pics I'm sure you get where I'm coming from. The Edelbrock pic is a screen shot of their video and the wagler pic just happens to be the ones I'm torquing down. I'm sure happy with how Jeremy treats us and he makes awesome product. I just figured I'd take an unbiased look at both and try not to sound like a wagler nut swinger too much, since this thread is about Edelbrock heads...

Bringing this thread back up since the Edelbrock heads have been out a while now. Anyone have experience with them? Good and bad.

Long story short, I had my welded water pump take a shit on me during a pull and damaged both my SoCal stage 2 LB7 heads.... Looking to see what options are out there.

Me personally I would go back with so cal and a plastic impeller water pump instead of welded the plastic one have shown to hold up quite well there was a thread some where about it welded vs plastic jmho

I will be going with Waglers billet pump and SoCals bypass kit. Don't want to have to deal with pump failing again...

They seem promising but I was really hoping to see some real world results. Supposedly there is a shop in Texas that is CNC porting them. I wasn't able to find anything about the shop and I have since forgotten the name. But I am also not on social media...

Since then, the only thing I have seen show up is this comparison on an LB7 version.

I am curious to see what they can do after porting and some better springs.

I think the edelbrock head, once ported with bigger valves, will be the new top dog. It appears to have more meat for porting, a more efficient runner design (as cast), and an overall stronger casting.

Edelbrock Duramax Head part numbers for each style Duramax head

(Part# 79029) 2001-2004 LB7
(Part# 79059) 2004.5-2005 LLY
(Part# 79089) 2006-2010 LBZ/LMM
(Part# 79119) 2011-2015 LML

Each Part number is 1 Head. Need to order 2 to get a pair.

When I spoke to the rep at an event, he said they can and do sell them un assembled for People who like to port and use their own hardware. But you have to call in to order them that way. He didn't have any Pricing for getting them that way.

I had dreams of getting some and sending them to SoCal...

dont want the wagler/brodix heads? or just another set of Socal? Last i talked with Lorenzo, he liked using the LMM heads (doesnt help you any) and they changed up how they port them to stop cracking issues. i never did ask on the LB7 stuff but maybe they changed them up as well since the heads you have?

I'm not opposed to buying SoCal again, but really like a lot of the upgraded features of the new Edelbrock heads. Thicker deck, T7 heat treat, HIP casting, more coolant capacity and the elimination the injector cups on the LB7 heads.

To my knowledge, Wagler does not make a street head anymore, only solid cast iron and billet aluminum...

How about sending a set of Edelbrock's to SoCal... :happy2:

Meh.... There is alot to disagree with in the testing that was done in that video. I wouldn't consider it as any viable data imho.
