just curious, why 3:42 gears?

3:42 gears and 3rd gear in the Allison puts you in between 4:56-4:88 gears on 4th gear. The 3:42's also have a bigger pinion for more tooth contact. At the 2.6 power levels the rear ring and pinion's are a big failure point. I have heard a few 2.6 guys haveing good luck with the 3:42's lasting longer, but have also heard if the pinion breaks it usually wreck's the housing!!!

FWIW, we got 6 hooks out of the first set and 41 out of the second, which is unheard of in 2.6. Both sets sheared the pinion off and the ring gear sent it through the case, so the housing is ruined as well.

If you put the ac delete pulley on and go over it and down to that accessory pulley then up over cp3 and steering pump, then you can put other pulley back...
