If anyone wants to mod a 6.7 Ford put some Carrillo rods in it first. They have TINY rods and a thin block from the factory. They cant hold much over 550-600hp.

BTW Carrillos retail $3900 for the 6.7L application.

So how did h&s pull out over 800rwhp out of a 6.7 then? I've heard both sides of the story, that they aren't good for much over 500hp and that they're good for much more than that.

I would imagine that they just got lucky. Made a pass on the dyno at that hp with no problems but weakened them or bent them... Dmitri Millard did 1799 hp on rods alone in his lb7. Then something went through the block. But that doesn't mean stock internals on an lb7 minus rods are good for 1700 hp...

We are talking about the 6.7 ford.

The 6.7 cummins is not as strong as the 5.9
Seems that once guys go twins and start making big torque down low, the rods cant handle it. Alot of that has to do with the steeper angle the rod is at due to the longer stroke of the 6.7 over the 5.9

Must have been a 6.7 cummins cause as far as i know 5.9's never had VGT's on them.

Correct, 5.9 never did have a VNT, only 6.7

12 and 24v rods are good for north of 1k.
CR rods start getting iffy around 9-1000. Some push them over 1k but it's really only a matter of time before they bend.
6.7 has steeper rod angles than the 5.9, due to the longer stroke. 6.7 rods, I really wouldn't push them more than about 800hp before I went billet. Anything over that, especially running compounds, it's going to get messy and expensive REAL quick.
