Duramax Towing Mileage

I have a 24 ft (28 ft OAL) tandem axle bumper tow enclosed race car trailer that weighs about 8,000 pounds loaded up. My Duramax with Allison 6-spd transmission is a low mileage 2013, 2500 HD, 4WD and crew cab.

Typically, I'm getting about 10.5 MPG at best and sometimes only around 9 MPG for some reason. And, I'm "maliciously checking" the mileage with my calculator each time I fill-up. I'm thinking it should be doing better than 10.5 MPG towing the trailer.

Also, every time I ask someone else with a Duramax about their towing mileage, they always tell me what they "think" they are getting, but they haven't actually calculated their mileage. And that drives me crazy. :D

So, what mileage should I be getting towing this trailer?

Stock emissions? Mileage sounds right on a stock truck. Those trailers aren't fuel mileage friendly

Your pulling a brick.
That front end, of the trailer, is just a big wall for the air to hit after coming over the truck.
Do you pull it a lot? Does the trailer company or someone make an aftermarket bubble for the front end?

Have one thats 25 feet long, but is a bit over 10 feet high(8 foot door), and I get right at 11.5-12 towing it at 70. The other one is 16 feet long, right around 9.5-10 feet tall(7' 2" door), and I get right around 14-15 towing it at 70. And my 32' HOLIDAY RAMBLER bumper pull travel trailer gets right around 12-12.5 towing at 65-70.
