Update

It's been awhile since I've posted anything. I can't say I'm very good at posting pics of every nut and bolt or weld that goes into this thing. These are the pics from 6 weeks ago when I pushed it out to get some good pics fully assembled before I tore it down for paint/engine/bodywork etc. That night is when I cut the tendons in my hand so it hasn't changed much except I had a friend come take the engine and front axle out so I could one hand sand and prep the front of the chassis. Hoping to start working on it again within the next week or two. There's a couple pics next to a new extended cab Chevy for size reference

Had a pretty cool day yesterday. Put the short block in for the last time. Front end is done, brakes plumbed etc. Need to finish lapping valves and cleaning up heads so I can bolt them on, then turbos, lines, etc. Inside of the bed is basically finished too. Just waiting to do bodywork. It seems never ending but I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel or something positive like that. Anyway, here's a couple pics for those still interested in my shop ornament.

Since I sold the original 1/8" top valve cover plates I got from Mat @ S&T steel. I went another direction. Picked up some 1/2" aluminum top plates from Mat, took a crash course on using a friends manual mill and cut myself some finned valve covers. Painted them black then wiped the tops of the fins with acetone to expose the aluminum. Really happy with the end result considering I've never even ran a mill before I cut these. They seem to really fit the street rod feel the whole build has had. Engine is essentially done with cooling/oiling systems all plumbed along with turbos and piping done. Going to start wiring the engine/body in the next few weeks with glass and bodywork following that. Then I think it's supposed to make noise or so I'm told...
