Thanks for all the positive comments guys. It's easy to get discouraged with a build like this. I'm 10 months in and barely getting to a rolling chassis. Should still be looking good to make at least part of next race season and Hot Rod Drag Week.

Love the wide five rims and the split window. you will have to be careful with the quick change when you launch even as light as you are

Thanks! Yeah, the quick change is really the biggest question mark in my mind as far as being able to stand up to the power. The guy I picked it up from a few years back said it was in a big block dragster and apparently lived. Not looking to make tons of power so hopefully I don't frag it on the first hit. We'll see.

Power is one thing but with twins and such torque will be higher then most big blocks by far. Still a awsome project. Can't wait to see the body on it.

Just finished the chassis last week. Need to work in steering and build motor plates before I paint the chassis section under the cab and install it for the final time. Cage should start soon and hopefully be almost done by Xmas. Finally being done with big parts of the builds feels good. Hoping to be done around May so I can have plenty of time to shake it down before Drag Week in September. Still a long way to go though.

Here's a mockup pic before I had to Z the front of the chassis to clear steering. I put everything together whenever I need motivation.

Drag Week  What class? Badass truck. :thumb:

I'm not exactly sure. It'll be my first DW. I think the chassis puts me in Unlimited class so my chances of winning with a 9 second truck are pretty well eliminated, unless all the 7 second cars break. The fun level should still be up there though. :)

x2

Is the final project going to be a street custom type rig or a rat rod or something else?

Kind of a mix, not shooting for a specific category. Not really a rat rod since it'll be painted and want it to be fairly nice. More of a no-frills street/strip fun truck than anything. Just looking to drive and enjoy it. MPG should be good enough to be able to drive it everywhere without needing a fortune, so that's a bonus.

I think they have a jacket for quickest diesel though. :D

Really? That would be sweet. DW just looks like a blast so winning anything would be icing on the cake.

Are you going to fab up a bed for it?

That's the plan. I'll buy some sheet aluminum and rivet it to match the cab. Won't be very big, hoping for just enough room for some slicks and couple spare parts.

You gonna leave it unfinished or paint it? Assuming its made out of SS?

Look awesome brushed like a delorean or a flat black.

It's aluminum and it's probably going to get painted a flat charcoal gray. Leaving it unfinished would be cool but you would constantly have to keep re-brushing it with scotch-brite or steel wool to keep it looking fresh.
