Duramax driver from Norway!

Hi guys!

The title says the most of it, but as you may know these trucks aren't anywhere near as popular here as in the United States. I recon it's because the price for diesel is 8$ per gallon (!). So much for being one of the richest countries in the world..

Anyway, since not many people drive them here the knowledge are pretty limited..

I own a 2005 LLY and my plan is to upgrade it to around 650rwhp, all in good time.

Hope you can share your wisdom when it is needed! :)

Thnx guys!

It is pretty cool, when my car was new in 2005 the price for it was around 12-130000$.

They are actually more expensive here than most BMW's and Audi's!:confused:

Ah, I get it! Excuse me for being a little slow, this isn't my native language you know ;)

It's actually taken in front of "Vikersundbakken", the worlds biggest skijumping slope :)

Welcome! You have a great truck. Upgrade the transmission, lift pump, efi live tune and it will put 500+hp to the tires.

By the way, Im a huge Norway fan. I'm 1/4 Norwegian:thumb:

Welcome, where is that ski slope at? I was in Oslo on business back in 2010 and the dealer I was with took me around the city and one of the stops was a giant ski slop built into the side of the mountain. Gorgeous city/country, and holy shit are there a lot of 6' tall gorgeous blondes...

Soo, are you a long jumper then???

My dad is an immigrant from Norway, never got nationalized and still lives off a permanent visa, he allowed me to obtain dual citizenship, so that's cool ;) I've only gone once and it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been and I really didn't want to leave:eek:
It was Oslo and a small township just outside of Oslo, a couple decades back...

My plan is to add a PPE stage 6 trans, 5" exhaust, Fuelab lift pump, PPE GT42r kit, PPE dual fueler, Bulletproof stering, Cognito upper control arms, Pitman and idler braces, Fleece tapshifter, Catltracs and EFI live(I plan on contacting McRat when i get EFI, seems like he really knows what he is doing with the LLY) :thumb:

Thank you! The skislope is at a place called "Vikersund". Probably an hour or so away from Oslo. The giant skislope you are thinking of is called "Holmenkollen", it's located on the west side of Oslo.
I have traveled some and honestly I must say some of the best girls are right here, no need to travel ;)

This truck is really awesome, compared to the other cars around here it is total overkill. Don't get me wrong, there is A LOT of badass cars around here, many luxurycars and sportcoupes. But not many people drive american here (fuel prices and maintenance), and it's not often you see another european car with engines bigger than max 2,5-3L.

I'm unfortunately not a long jumper, but my dad was once :p

So interesting that you dad is from here, you should really come more often. Let me know if you are coming over and I will help you with good places to go, cool places to see etc. I live 45 mins away from Oslo, but if you really want to see Norway you must go west or north. I just sold a 1932 Studebaker and had it shipped to Norway, there seems to be a lot of interest in vintage cars there, especially Studebakers. There are many fairly inexpensive things that can be done to attain 500 HP, but 650 HP is going to take some serious modifications. Keep us posted on your progress and enjoy!

I bought my truck here, we have a car vendor here in Norway who imported them, but they stopped importing the Dmax in 2006. Now they are trying to import the new Dmax, but with taxes and customs a brand new one will cost 160 000$ for a 5 seater and 100 000$ for a 2 seater.. Apparently they will ned a minimum of people interested before they take on all the work.

You are very right, many people here enjoy american vintage cars. In my vicinity there are several amcar clubs. On the 17. of may (our independence day) they dress them up with flags and all other kinds of nice accessories and drive through the streets. I have read several places that you can accieve 500whp fairly easy, but I have also read in some threads that you can add the mods I have listed in this thread without a built engine. The way I understand it it's all about the type of tune you run. I hope to achieve around 650whp and use it as a daily driver. If i have the dsp5 switch I can have a race tune with 650whp and a daily driver tune on 500? If I have understood it right?

I will keep you posted on the mods being added to the truck, and I'm enjoying myself already with the good welcoming :thumb:
