The gauge is in, Now I have all the parts necessary to moniter drive pressure. :D

Now maybe I can get a tune that works good for this turbo and push it as far as its intended to be pushed ;)

I'll post pics of the rest of the parts when I get home.

Right on Larry!

you setting it up to log it also?

you need to get some Pins that are similar to the ones that are in the harness
if you carefully pull one of the wires out,you can see the style of the pin

Stop by GM on the way home and try and get one that is similar to the auto meter pin and get 2 of them

Are you logging drive pressure now

I take it this (metering and logging of drive pressure) is more geared towards variable vane chargers because you can likely control this (the drive pressure) via tuning?

Question is, can you control the drive pressure of a fixed geometry charger like the stock LB7 and most aftermarket chargers available? It doesn't seem like you can, at least not very much because the drive pressure is a direct result of the physcial makeup of the charger isn't it?

Just learning here.... and seeing if there is something else I need to consider adding (drive pressure gauge) to the to-do list for monitoring in order to better tune my truck.

I've run out of gauge locations, already have 3 on the pillar and 2 in the over head console. The drive pressure gauge is going in a steering column pod.

I think monitering drive pressure may be limited to variable vane turbos, I could be wrong though.

:eek:How and the heck do you watch all those? I can't even look at a EGT and boost at the same time on the track. So I don't even have a EGT in Wendy

I watch a different one each run and then add them together at the end of the day :p

Yes you can,but its little more difficult.McRat uses this info on Casper with his turbo(s)

Mitch, you could but its as you allready said more for the VVT

And im just learning here also:)

you will need 2 thin gauged wires( to different colors )
2 electrical push pins
1 of the supplied orange plugs that came with EFI
1 custom calculated PID file

Now assuming you have the gauge hooked up,Unplug the harness and gauge
insert the 2 wires into the harness plug the gauge back in
then run these 2 wires to a desired location and hook them into the orange plug and then into Aux 1 on the V2

Pin# 10 is 5 volt
pin# 4 is ground

Pending on the gauge pressure determines what Calc PID to use,As we can also use this setup to log lift pump pressures and basically what ever else you wanted

Ive included a excel spread sheet,If you look at the formulas ive built you just need to pick the pressure of the gauge you are useing and put that particular formula into your calc PID,I just used the sheet for verifying pressure to voltage and it worked for the 0-30 psi and the 0-100 psi i never tried the others but mathematically they should also work:)

:D Found another gauge location, mounted and wired it last nite, will finish the underhood plumbing this weekend.

Which Gauge, sensor location and pins?

Larry couple of questions:

1. Which Gauge did you get from Autometer?

2. Where are you putting the sensor?

3. And did you get the extra pins you needed to connect the two lines up from the gauge to the V2?

Thanks

that's where I have my SPA dual digital EGT/Boost gauge mounted. I REALLY wish someone would make a two-gauge pod for our steering columns OR one of those two-gauge dash bezel pods that are made for the Fords. I don't like my gauges up in view for the world to see. Gotta maintain a little stealthiness.

1. Autometer Cobalt #6163 0-100 psi full sweep elec. fuel gauge

2. Sensor going on passenger side exhaust manifold where my pyro used to be.

3. I have not found the pins yet, but I will do it eventually.

Not me, I like gauges..........If I could think of 3 more things to moniter, I'd get that nice 3 pod that fits on the top of the dash like Simon has. :D

Thanks Larry I need to find some pins for a 0-15 PSI fuel guage I am putting in. There is an electronics store in town that has piece parts like that so if I get some I will get some extras and mail you some.

Are you going to be reading fuel pressure directly off of the FASS, If so, I'm using a mechanical gauge on mine with a fuel isolater, I have coolant running to the gauge in the truck. This is a lot cheaper route to go for reading the pressure. I'm using a 0 - 30 psi Isspro gauge for this and run a consistant 8 psi on the gauge.

But if you find the pins, I'll gladly pay for your trouble :D
