so getting ready to install a lb7 up-pipe and before i do i wanna tap it and get it all ready for a drive pressure gauge (and possibly a BOV)

wondering what kinda fitting i should use? some brass from the plumbing store or something a little stronger?

thanks

My DP gauge is 1/8" NPT brass fitting, a couple inches in front of my egt probe, connected to coiled brake line to the sensor...looks like shit but works just fine let me know if you want pics

well here's how i see it. my crappy thin ass aluminium CAC pipe has flawlessly held onto its 1/8th brass fitting at 40psi. so why shouldn't a steel pipe hold one at close to 80psi? plus all the heat in there i think will work in my favor

If you're wanting strength then drill and tap the manifold, more threads will grab the fitting this way. I just used a 1/8 NPT brass fitting and a few feet of copper tubing then adapted to nylon.

Or you could have a bung welded onto the up pipe which is the best way to go, I could do it for you or send you in the right direction for the bung.

the bung would have to be rounded to match the circumference of the pipe correct?

would you mind PMing me with some info?? the shipping would make it unworthwhile to send it to you as i only paid 60 for the pipe but if you could help me find something to use as a bung that would be awesome...plenty of good welders around

eh, not really easier i mean i have the up-pipe off the truck completely i would just tap it then put it in.

do they make steel or iron fittings? maybe i can use that and have it tac-ed on?

Don't know about steel or anything fittings but easier IMO if it ever needed removed or blew the fitting out...where do you plan on tapping the up pipe at? Not being an ass just asking cause I don't see any benefit to it.

I may be way off here thinking of something else, but you want to coil the hose to keep the exhaust pulses from disrupting flow and making the gauge crazy. The coil keeps more steady pressure. This would be much easier to get by using a similar tube connector as you used in the boost side just with copper tubing.
