I believe the coil is for heat also... A orfice is used to keep the gauge from bouncing, which could be accomplished with using small gauge copper tube or weld and drill a fitting.

I used my up-pipe egr port. When I deleted the egr I built a 1/4" plate & drilled & tapped it. Alas I haven't hooked the gauge up yet...

Yeah I always thought that was a dumb idea to tap into the boost tube, but like you siad it worked fine for you and many others. This would be the same minus the heat.. I would go ahead and weld a nut on it if I was doing it in the uppipe

If your just changing out for a stock LB7 then you could do like I'm looking to do and tap into RDL's EGR cap. Mine has a tab to support it and is pretty thick to thread the fitting into.

I would not install it in the up pipe it would be in the manifold to have more room to work. Your going to have to now make this work around your downpipe.

I think he is wanting to get rid of the riser, much simpler and less things in the way than putting the cap on the riser that also just adds to the things that could go wrong as far as exhaust leaks.

Here is a good spot to put it Beech, just after the up pipe leaves the manifold, I'm sure you could find other places that would work too though. Your 1/8" NPT bung should be there Friday.

LOL the cap blew off like a 22 rifle shell and we had to weld it over.

thats not a bad idea, hmmm. i was sort of thinking closer to the top near where the egr riser would be seeing as i wont have the cooler anymore that should give me a nice pocket of room... but the more i look at that spot the more i doubt myself:eek:
