the pipe that my finger is on greg you marked backwards it flows from below the t-stats to the water pump since it dumps out on the suction side of the pump ;)

can you guys tell me why i would have overheating issues on a fresh built motor?

here is what ive done

changed thermostat from brand new to brand new
swapped out the new water pump old one was fine
bled air constantly
pressurized coolant to 18 psi and no loss of coolant
eliminated the heat core and looped the 5/8s line

im at a loss

alright Bu I apologize, TXchristopher explained it to me a long time ago as backwards to what you stated. It was something to do with the cooling system, so I took his word as the gospel (which turned out to be incorrect).

gm has it poorly worded throughout....

I looked through Service information and found a step by step how to pull something... and it tells you, now pull this, then this and it shows pics of these items. The way the pics are and the way it is described - that is how the coolant flows.
