I'm in the "let people talk about it if they want to crowd".

Just create an area for it. This gives people a place to go and vent if they feel the need. In addition I feel it will build a stronger sense of "community" on this board.

Some thoughts on names:

"As the smoke blows"

"Blowing smoke"

I say yes....If someone doesnt want to read it then dont read it. One of the best things about this site is the freedom to post/talk about whatever we like. This is the "smoke signals/fun zone" and the drama is pretty entertaining sometimes.

I love how if theres an issue here the admin makes a poll and asks the members what theyre take is. I think thats great and makes the site the best it can be. Makes members feel like theyre part of something :)

I'll wait until there are 100 votes, then make a decision. So far it looks like the average Dmax guy isn't bothered by it.
It obviously caught Kats attention;)...she was veiwing the Ad thread over there in Forum Ops...

I think you learn alot about people in the "industry" from those type of topics. It helps newbies know who can and can't be trusted, which parts are really better, and who's advice might be better to stick with if you are trying to build a fast and reliable truck on a small budget. Some of those topics can really bring to light many things some of us less experienced "dieselheads" would never have thought to ask or even think about.

Censoring peoples opinions, good or bad, is not a good solution.

I would prefer to not see or read about drama going on at other diesel sites in www.duramaxdiesels.com. I really wish we could just keep the talk more tech based here. This is what brought most of the people that started this site together and made it what it is today.

Going to one site from another site to discuss stuff that goes on at other forums is retarded and does nothing for making our trucks faster, stronger, longer lasting. That type of site needs to be named "Diesel ethics and gossip .com" and lets keep it all there-no holds barred.

IMO, leave drama chat to the "other" sites-it has no place here.

Thats a good point.
I too would like this site to be strictly tech too but....

With the collapse of the DP, this site is taking on more and more people from that site. I think we have a good source of tech here and a off topic area would be good. Because with so many people its not all tech anymore, more of a hang out place. The drama is sometimes fun. Reading it and being part of it. This place will always be the place for tech, and its not like were gonna run out of room for "other" topics. Its just another step in the direction for this place to grow, and with everyone leaving DP and others finding this site, thats what it is gonna do is grow.

guess I m still in the dont give a shit area lol. :D

I would allow them. However I would make up a special section for them. That way people who don't want to read about it don't have see it unless they want to. Call it "other forums drama" or "diesel drama" or something like that.

X2, life sometimes just isn't drama enough.. I'd allow it as sometimes to much data on diesels you go into overload.. It's nice to have a soap box or two you can take part in to break up the monotony.

What about the "fun zone"/"Smoke signals" I didnt think that this section was for tech at all. I kinda thought that tech stuff belonged in the tech section of the site:confused:

Smoke Signal's is a vague term, but fun zone is pretty self explanatory. Drama and fun should not be used in the same sentence.

Pat/Kat can describe what their idea of what they thought was supposed to be put into the smoke signal's area-as far as content. But IMO, Religion, Politics, and other website drama weren't the first things that crossed their mind when they created it.

Need 14 more votes to hit 100.

1 problem when we setup the site and had ideas on the areas is: things change. We hadn't planned on doing somethings but have. They have been requested or we saw the need for them. Religion and Politics (real world) we are going to fight to keep off the site. Drama :baby: (even other site's) is not as easy to stop.
