I see the option in the tuning to disable adaptive learning for the shifts...what happens when you disable this?

It has me curious.

Why is it bad?

If you have to ask this question, you should not be doing it.
Just because someone gave you a scalpel and a saw does not mean you should do brain surgery.
First question you should ask yourself is ; how does all this work. If you don't know; tearing into it will teach you nothing.

That's odd Mike, the last guy I did brain surgery really turned out well. He only drools 90 percent of the time:roflmao:

How philosophical. Now that we know you disapprove of amateur brain surgery, care to actually enlighten us as to why turning off adaptive learn is a bad thing? Couldn't you theoretically get it to shift the way you want and turn off adaptive?

How would you get it to know the clutch clearances then? Or when the clearances change from wear which happens over time, and your CTC trans turns into a tie up machine because you switched off adaptive learning. The option was put there years back because it was asked for, those who have played with it normally ended up having serious consequences because of it. Just like SEM, many have turned it off and said how great there trans shifted, but long term many of them have sufferred the consequences of it.

Sorry, there will be no help on this subject.

Thanks! :thumb:

I appreciate the response, I actually don't have a dog in this fight as I don't run an Allison. Was more curious than anything and hadn't considered clutch wear and tie ups being the ultimate destination.

This is exactly what I figured would happen, figured I'd ask the question than find out the hard way.

allison to 47re/48re comparison is apples to oranges in terms of design and function. Not sure where you are going with that
