Finally it's time guys,i have finally got the motor home. The lb7 block has 40 over race casts, carrillo's,arp mains, ppe balancer.I bought the motor knowing fare well that it needs bearings and oil pump so I took some picts of the copper in the upper pan and will show the bearings when I get the caps off.i am excited and a little scared what I might find,I also noticed some scaring in the cylinder bores, both intake and exhaust sides of the walls.what would cause this?I don't want to ha

ve to pull the pistons if I don't have to but the bores also smell of burnt oil so what do you guys think?

This is why I started from scratch, brand new parts. Never know what you are getting. Hopefully you were informed of the "potential" for serious damage and it was priced accordingly. Looks like carrillos are about the only thing salvageable.

We're you planning on replacing all bearings?

I bought a complete set of h series.looks like the rods and ballancer are the only useable parts so I don't even know what to think at this point.i thought a new pump and bearings and all would be good but this is far from good.Kris only put 200miles on so the damage was prob there when he bought it.I don't blame him as he wouldn't have sold this to me if he knew but the xtra money I put in for the block, pistons, cam is a waste that I cant recover from. The 3rd main was loose in the saddle and discolored from over heating.

Yes,I called him this morning so I don't know if im going to get stuck with this yet or not.Origonaly I only wanted the rods and dues fuelers but got tired of waiting so I sent him some more money and said id just use the whole block, the idia of having race casts over stockers was why I decided to go that rout.the block is a boat ancor I think.does anyone have the mesurments for a 20 and 40 over pistons?i pulled 1 and the 40 over is only 1mm bigger than my stocker so I want to make sure what I have here. Not doughting kris at all just want to be curtain before shopping for a block. Thanks

I found some stamped numbers on the block beside each main where the upper pan bolts.nothing on the main.2nd a 2.3rd a 1.4th a 1.5th a 2.what do these #'s mean, all the main bearings are a h standard size as well.

made some headway and got the block stripped and was very surprised to find the block looks in decent shape other than the cylinder walls,They Will need a hone but I think they will clean up.I am unsure about the caps as They are in bad shape so can they be replaced? Also the cam is not a socal 3388,from the looks of it its a custom grind but maybe someone with some experience can shead some light on this. The #'s on the cam are 4884-4894.below that-k2989 07.what is this cam?
