X2 Would love to go elk and bear hunting someday. But also i love Duck hunting there is nothing more exiciteing then calling to ducks to try and get them in close enough to shoot at. Just my opinion

You guys got turkeys in MD? They're pretty fun trying to call in, but so is coyotes. A partial moon night with full snow cover is just plain awesome to call in coyotes, especially if ya get some nightvision glasses. See how close you can get them to you, pretty freaky!

Oh yeah, and I dont hunt in high-fenced areas either. We have over 1000 acres of pasture spread out over about a 50 mile radius. We have farm ground by a lot of them so I am scouting almost all year long, and then there are the spots that are CRP and never get bothered most of the year that are always -go to- places.
I guess to me, my moto is "thats why they call it deer/turkey hunting and not deer/turkey shooting."

Oh no its not! We havnt even gotten all our corn planted yet, still have beans to go!! That's why I had that up there for a while, when we should have been planting it was still snowing! Now it wont stop raining! 2 inches in the last 2 days and probably another inch tonight! Hard to get crap planted in the mud!

I guess I should at least change it to "spring has sprung!" OK OT rant over. :D

Oh yeah, another thing on the hunting/shooting motto. If it was just shooting I would have had this trophy I have been chasing for 2 years already! They dont get big by being stupid!

Agreed...sorry, I guess it's my upbringing and the way I grew up hunting. I hope I'm not causing too much heartburn on my feelings about it. I've just seen too much land out here in West Texas turn into "Hunter's" paradise land by high fencing and charging people through the nose to make a profit. Hope we're all good:hug:

No worries man, I think we're all agreed it wouldn't be much fun to do it that way.

Some of these posts remind of something that happened several years ago when we still lived on the dairy.

There was a field across the street that had a barbed wire fence. The Canadian honkers would land over there.

I saw out the kitchen window a car park across the street. Two guys jump out with what looked liked a 22 rifle, climb though the barbed wire fence and sneak up on the geese and shoot one on the ground

By that time I was outside running toward the street yelling at them that I had called the police.

Of course with my big mouth they heard me perfectly, as did Pat, and he came outside to see what I was yelling at. They started running back toward the fence. One tried to jump the fence with goose in his hand and missed :D He had a big rip in the crotch of his pants. Teach that butt head:rofl:

Pat and I stood there and laughed our heads off as they drove off.

I'm not against hunting :D But, that just seemed chicken shit to me.

That's funny! I can't believe the balls of some people to do stuff like that, like they didnt know there was a farm across the road? I know stuff like that happens all the time, but you would think you could find a better place than across from someones place? :stupid:

Like we seem to all agree on the high fences, it wouldnt be fun for me, but if I could build fences and stock it full of trophies and get a bunch of rich city slickers to pay me a couple grand to shoot a "petting zoo" animal I would probabbly do it too. :D

Oh, and even though there is no season I do shoot chicken hawks and turkey buzzards off the tops of power line poles. Yes, they do eat mice, but they also eat baby pheasants and prarie chickens!

X2!! There's one on my Georgia lease that's out foxed me 3years in a row now. It still amazes me how smart those big bucks really are. I guess thats why I have no pics of him during daylight hours on the trail cam. Maybe this year will be the year. He has to be 5 years old now so time is def running out:(

Last year, my brother in law was sitting on the edge of a winter wheat field, all covered up, and had a little six point buck standing out in front of him about 25 yards away. He was just enjoying watching him, as he had no intentions of shooting him. All of a sudden, two guys jumped out of a truck on the adjacent dirt road and began shooting. It was right at 300 yards to the fence where my BIL was sitting, and these a$$holes couldn't shoot straight to save their lives. One shot actually hit about 10 yards in front of him, and another wounded the little buck in the front leg.

My BIL started yelling and waving his hands, and then fired a warning shot straight up in the air. The jerks drove off, and we had to kill that little buck.

When I finally got to him after hearing all the shots and yelling, he was as white as a ghost. All these stories go to show, some people have absolutely no respect for life...human or animal.

We have a small ranch out at Bronte, the deer blind along the river has bullet holes in it, Sure am glad nobody was sitting in it at the time that happened.

Yeah we have turkeys here but no coyotes where i live. I like turkey hunting just not have the time to go. We are about like you dirt farmer with the rain and trying to get things planted. We got all are corn in early and a few beans than 9 inches of rain. I did get 80 acres of beans planted yesterday but the rest of the ground is still to wet to get on.

I got one stand that way that I'm hoping some a-hole just shot at to piss me off.... Every year we have cattle water tanks and irrigation tires that get shot--wether its random or intentional it dont know...

We've gotten 5.7 inches since Friday! Its makin a hell of a mess. We still have over 1,000 acres of corn to plant but its probablly gonna be a lot more beans now. Its gonna take a long time for our clay ground to dry out, we may start planting beans in the sand in a couple of days.

DmaxLover, thats pretty funny! Did I rob this pic from you off the DP a few years ago?
