Here are some pics of the progress so far with my SAS conversion. Been awhile since I posted any updates. Unfortunately it has taken WAY longer than I had anticipated. The forged hiem joints from Ballistic Fab were paid for on Jan 28th and they still haven't been able to complete my order due to material shortages... LoL! I included a pic of the rear truss that I will be using on rear factory AAM 11.5. I think it should be solid when its done :)

Its looking good. Had mine been done that way I would most likely still have it
Though I love the 08 more than I ever did the 04. Hell just the crew cab over the extended cab is a million times better

Well not a lot to report atm. I did get the truss welded onto the rear axle.

Toby at Triple X was originally going to send some fairly simple brackets to locate the links on for the rear on the frame and then decided to go ahead and develop a full on rear kit. He purchased a CCSB truck like mine to get all the dimensions on and is going to make a complete crossmember for the rear with a pillow block already built in for a 2-piece drive shaft.

It should be well worth the wait. No point in rushing it now I figure snow will be here soon... LOL! My truck is no trailer queen but I refuse to drive it in the salt. Hell I don't even like to drive in the rain.

The cross member Toby is designing will replace that the factory half driveshaft looking hoop cross member in the back. Once it gets here I will know exactly what I have to remove back there and where I will have room for a fuel tank.

Other than that I have been doing little stuff egr delete using LB7 bridge. replaced the intercooler with BD Diesel intercooler and changed the boost pipes. Was debating wether or not to go with the new batmo wheel for my stock charger. Could really use some EGT relief with big tires :( Plumbing up the brakes on the fron this weekend. Then all will be left is to put on limit straps and bump stops but I really need it all together before I can fine tune the lenghts for all that stuff. Then get a driveshaft measurment.

Here are some picks of the rear truss installed and a link to Toby's article in Four Wheeler magazine. http://www.fourwheeler.com/departments/products/129_1110_october_2011_parts_rack/index.html.

Here are some pictures of the rear mounted Cab and Chassis fuel tank that I plan to use to replace my original saddle tank that will no longer work due to the upper links being in the way.

I had some issues with the original wheels that came so after about 8 months of dicking around I finally have all 4 wheels. I bolted up 2 on the front just to see what it will look like.

Waiting on some brackets for the rear.

Looks awesome!

I have wanted to straight axle my truck (reason I have $6k in a 79' Dana 60) since I bought it. But due to the weight of the damn thing and my need to go fast I decided against it.

Maybe one day I will throw it in the old 49' 5 window Chevy I have sitting at my Dad's house. Along with a Duramax of course.

Can't wait to see your truck all done!

Man that is coming along great! what do you use to clean the frame before you paint? Im having issues trying to get the tar-like coating of my frame. Your frame looks like its down to bare metal?? I tried a degreaser and wire-wheel, but it just seems to smear it around....

That fuel tank....did you have to remove that large crossmember that holds the spare tire up or does it simply bolt up to it with straps?

Interesting project. Good luck with everything.
