Shackle on both ends allows the springs to only support the weight of the truck. The leaf springs will not bind having a shackle at each end. This allows me to use the truck to Tug A Truck, pull a trailer, or sled pull if I want.

Coil spring setup works great for the front of the truck because the weight doesn't really change. In the rear it can vary by thousands of pounds so a really good leaf spring like these Deavers will be very flexy and progressive.

So the links will still locate the axle under the truck side to side and front to back just like they normally would with a coil and the leaf springs will have no ability to locate the axle.

I used a 05' dodge front axle it's the same bolt pattern as the gm and they use the same wheel hub assembly's so u unplug your abs and plug it into the dodge axle. I have king coilovers on mine. I want to take the kings off an put nitrogen shocks on the front. Looks good so far though keep posting pics

Oh ok it makes sense now......ive seen that setup before and also a buggy leaf setup done in a similar fashion. Your fab work looks great and i bet you cant wait to get it back on the road.

Thanks 07BlueLBZ! Yea it has been apart little over a year now so it will be great to be back on the road.

You are right about the buggy setup this double shackle setup is old school desert race type setup. It should work really well for a great all around setup!

Very nice! Hopefully I get to see it at some shows this year. I know the feeling with the truck being down for a year, it does suck:mad:

Prepping the back half of the truck for POR15 since the shocks finally came in and I know for sure my shock brackets will work.

Finished up the truck on Friday. Some minor things to work on but all and all it drives really nice and it hasn't even been aligned yet.

No sway bars front or rear and only the upper links to locate the rear axle side to side and it handles like its on rails for being on 40" tires. I have only felt little rear steer and that is when I have gone over larger off camber humps in country roads at speed. I tried some tight turns little faster than I would normally take them just to see what it would be like and there is some body roll but nothing that affects the driveability of the truck in anyway.

Driveline angles seem to be great only hit 75 mph on the bypass no issues of any kinda with vibration etc. Truck seems very solid and rigid only real complaint is the brand new PSC steering gearbox seems to have some play in it before it actually moves the pitman arm. Going to look at this very closely this week when I take it in to align it.

Here are some pics of how it sits now that I am driving it. Once its aligned and everything is double checked I plan to get some action pics :)

I have a few friends that have had quite a few problems with there boxes.

i have as well. i have a buddy with a SAS'd duramax and his psc box with the hydro assist ram and the gear leaked out of the box. they took care of him but seemed like the workmanship was lacking.

great build OP, i have been following along since you started the thread. im glad to see you got it all back together. it looks great!

Thanks guys! There is an allen head set screw on top of the gear box with a jam nut. I was told to make small (half turn's at a time) adjustments with this. This should tighten the box right up. I plan to do this when I take it to align it. I will let you guys know what I find out.

Not sure on your PCS, but on a normal box that tightens it up in a different way. If you tighten it too much, it will not return to center after you make a turn and let off the wheel.

Ah ok well the wheel now seems to have no return to center the way it is. I figured this was because the ram wants to stay where ever you have placed it by allowing fluid to it by turning the steering wheel?

This is the first truck I have ever had this steering assist on. It really makes turning the steering wheel effortless almost to easy like there really is no feedback other than the play in the wheel right now due to the box being very loose.
