I know some of this is directed at me. I don't do well with PM's because it usually turns into 10 more PM's and after that there are still questions that are not answered where as a 5 minute phone call could give you more answers than you ever expected.
Many times I have found that what a customer is looking for, he really doesn't need.

I'm not even one of Mikes customers, and he offered me parts for free. That's going above and beyond customer service.

When I got started I tried to get to be a dealer for Exergy, they told me I had to sell 10K at retail (so no profit for the first 10K) before any kind of discount or dealer cost, I flat out asked the guy "so you want me to sell 10K of your product with no insentive to push your product?" he said yeah thats how we do it. needless to say I sell DDP, DDP hooked me up right away and i sell alot of their dodge injectors and now use LDS for Duramax injectors and Brent has been great to deal with.

A simple you bet I got something that should work for you is a simple response. No response at all to me is kind of like saying hi to somebody and they walk right by looking the other way, or hold the door for somebody and getting no thank you. I guess it isn't needed but is a good courtesy gesture. No response to me is Kind of an F you I don't need your business. I guess I might take it too seriously but a little respect goes along way in my book.

Well Thanks for mentioning me on the GOOD side of this discussion, but I can have bad days too. Some days I can't get away from the phone long enough to do anything.

I prefer emails. That way I can do them anytime I have a minute and I can always look back at my emails when I forget what was said.

The Still Master
Tough situation.
The big name shops field so many BS phone calls and deal with know it alls and tire kickers and I can see how eventually they would grow weary of people that didn't seem worth their time
. HOWEVER that is their burden to bear and part of the game when you market yourself in the sales game. It's their duty to step up and treat every person as if their order is important to them. I personally think small shops are likely to give more personalized service. Josh Harris at Top Notch Garage is one example that comes to mind. Josh is friendly, quick with honest answers, and as helpful as he can be. He runs his entire shop by himself and still does not resort to giving excuses. He will often answer his phone when his hands are covered in coolant or oil and he will respond to text or call back at night or during his lunch hour. His dedication and willingness to help are very obvious

You nailed it......:thumb:

When the phone rings and you are trying to finish something up you hate to miss the call, I would say out of all the calls I get 95% of the callers flat out refuse to leave a message, or they call and hang up and call back 6-8 times in a row hoping you will just take the call to see what they want.

Every customer is important and every customer should be treated with courtesy and respect, but many people call and want you to help them with their tune that you didn't sell them.

Or many call and want to ask you 100 questions and all though you want to answer all of their questions and concerns when you spend an hour and then they say "OK, when I am ready I will be in touch" and then you never hear back it kinda sucks, because during that time the phone rang 3 -5 times and you could not take the others calls.

Those that do not run a diesel business have no idea what we deal with.

"Hey I got your tune a year ago, now my ABS light is on, is that because of your tune ?"

"Hey I got your tune 3 months ago and now my speedometer stopped working, can you send me a new tune to fix it ?"..........

I wish I could record what goes on here daily, you would not believe what we deal with.

I must say, Mark, Mike, and Guy are all top notch! All three have actually called me back, in today's world I no longer expect returned calls sad as it is. I see it both ways as far as email vs calls. When you ignore emails because you think they might be a tire kicker then you're throwing away money, that's how I see it. In my line of work, I HAVE to return emails and phone calls. No other way around it. In many ways I perfer email, just as Rick stated, you know exactly what was said...

Just my 2 cents

Mike fielded trans build questions on a weekend. I was installing a SCIV.

Guy, overnighted me my V2, cause I was in a bind, at his expense. My unit got held up in customs, that's not his fault! When I found out I told Guy to bill my CC for the shipping, cause that's not his problem that customs held my unit up, he wouldn't do it.

Mark called me back the other day regarding some tuning questions. Wasn't expecting a return call, haven't bought anything from him YET. But tuning and turbos are in the works very soon.

Suncoast has always taken care of me. They build quality pieces as well.

I gotta say it's been a pleasure dealing with these guys.

X2, Tony couldn't be more right about this if he wanted to be. It makes doing your job very difficult because there is only so much time in a day. Probably why I work 14-16hr days on average because I sure as hell can't get it done in 8-12hrs! It's a tough gig to say the least but I wouldn't change it for anything, I'm a horsepower junky doing what I do best!

Just clone yourself. Problem fixed. You can be building motors and doing fun crap while Mark 2 is on the phone all day.

Guess you made up your mind. Didn't have to end this way. Your choice.

I didn't name any names at all in this thread. You put yours out there. You read the first post realized you did that exact same thing. Wrote your post and still no other response to pm. You know you we're inconsiderate but chose not to fix the situation. My questions were fairly simple. Like I said no response to me is a lack of respect and says to me that my business doesn't matter to you. I did make up my mind. You won't get my business and never get my recommendation to anyone. Pretty simple really.

I don't respect you at all. You seem to have time to text all kinds of people, but you don't have time for a 5 minute call. Then you go out and put my supposed thoughts out in public using the F word and you don't know me. Go figure. I am lucky I didn't get involved with you.

Now that we and everyone else knows we can not stand each other; go start another post.
I will leave this open to see how many other people feel like you.

I don't know anything about anything but I know I called Evan one Friday night a few weeks back. It's 2 hrs later there and he was getting ready to eat dinner. I felt terrible for interrupting, but he said he'd call me back. He called after he was done and helped me immensely. We hit a point we were both stumped and he said give mike a call. I call Mike and he blows my mind with info and stuff to check and then tells me if I need more help to call his cell on the weekend and he will do what he can to assist me.

The service was amazing from both. Honestly they are who I recommend anymore along with Suncoast when it comes to anything trans related.

Hey mudygmc. I notice you spend a lot of time here. How do you work and lurk? You say you don't have time to call but you can sit on your phone lurking here. Shouldn't you be pumping oil to America or something? I've gotten calls from people you've been texting. Man you have a lot of time on your hands. You sir are a dishonest person and you should be ashamed of yourself. But you are not.

Haven't done much in the means of big money in my truck, but, I will say when I got the trans for my car... If you claim part will be delivered by X date, I would expect it to be delivered then. Doesn't matter to me if you need two months, but be up front with it and certainly don't make me chase down where my $4k trans is.

Other than that, work has yet to issue us phones in the new offices, so I get to ignore my suppliers without hurting my conscience.

See Mike you dont read very well. I am an honest person who treats everybody with respect. I wrote in an earlier post I work long hours in the oil field. 90-120 hours a week on average. I run pump trucks. They are v-16 cummins and v-12 detroits. If you can imagine they aren't as quiet as a duramax. I wear a headset all day. Those kind of make it hard to talk on the phone. They however dont cover my eyes and when I get a few minutes between pumping I can look at things on my phone. Thats where the pm's and emails come in. I dont know who called you but I have only texted one person on this forum ever and I doubt he called you to talk about me. So if a call at 2 or 3 in the morning to order parts is ok with you. Sorry it was my bad. Those are the reasons I try to email and pm people about products.

Exactly. I'm newer to this but am finding out fast it's crazy how quick people jump to the tune. I found out one guy was saying that I messed up a guys injectors on his LB7 with a 150K and never been replaced and we smoking a little when I tuned it. he said he didn't care and to tune it anyway. The guy that was talking trash had never even had any work done by me. also got one that called because a customers dome light and reverse lights quit working after the tune. he found a burnt fuse and when I asked if he had checked the fuses he said "no I hadnt even thought of checking them" really? called back in a hour and sure enough it was fuse. Had another LLY that was hard starting when hot when he had it tuned by me and we were in the truck together when I noticed it was hard starting. 6 months later he called and asked if that was something I did in his tune....
