Nothing runs like a Deere

There is an old Terex joke in construction that could go for Deere too. :(

Why is a Terex green?
So it can hide in the grass from the Cats!!:D

Boy I thought Cornell had radar for pimped out equipment. To cold to be working up there, so he must be playing with his truck.

So you have been around ONE John Deere that you admit was old.........

Im with Big Block88 :thumb:... Fawk Jon Dear :2birds:

I guess with an argument like "Fawk Jon Dear" what can I possibly say??? I mean that's such a brilliant statement, and clearly points why John Deere would be a lousy choice of supplier of a light duty Diesel engine......

I work for a decent size construction company and 95 percent of out equipment is cat. When our company bought another quarry they kept all of their old equipment and they had a jd 450 hoe. No impressed at all with it. I have had the opportunity to run a few different brands of excavaters and honestly nothing compares to the cat. I will say the Volvo 460 was a decent machine but still doesn't have the guts of a cat 330 or 336.

Just like arguing diesel truck brands. We all have our favorites.

That Dodge/Case combo is pretty cool. The interior of the hoe looks nicer than my truck, lol.

John Deere isn't a construction company per say, they are like every other company, they all concentrate on their "bread and butter." They all break down, lol. Same with GM in the truck world, it's all a matter of preference and personal experience.

Near us anyone running big Cat hoes and excavators are transitioning to Kamatsu equipment, they admit better quality and longevity... That's just what I'm hear from people who work at local mines and construction sites

I do agree. It all is preference and needless to say they are all nice machines.

Nice looking machines and truck haha. I'm guessing thats at ConEx in Vegas? I was supposed to go but we have a few demo jobs to do.

As for brand loyalty. Cat isn't worth the extra they cost, not even close, esp for a small company like my family has. Buy what you like and own it. I can't help the "cheap" Korean Doosan and Bobcats we have aren't up to fan boys standards even though I chose them over Cat. Plus Cat machines love using fuel and they have to come up with hybrids just to match the fuel consumption of other brands.

Fiat now owns Case, New Holland and Chrysler sooooo......

I'd take a Longhorn Laramie 620 Quad or 9230 :roflmao:

We farm yellow and cut red here, but just like everyone has said, it's like arguing which pickup to buy. They all have their pros and cons. Ag industry is a bit different than construction too as far as brand stereotypes.

That JD 450 (clc?) excavator isn't a john deere. Its a hitachi. I am a IH fan. My family farm is a international implement farm PERIOD! I am a mechanic for a construction company. http://www.igelco.com/home/ Construction equipment wise. I don't think you can beat 410 JD backhoes. They are tough! Our 750 JD dozers down to 450's hold up fairly well. We have a couple smaller excavators that are in the 130-230 size. A few volvos, Bunch of komatsu's. IMHO you can't hardly beat a komatsu. Damn good excavator. Got a bunch of CAT equipment. D4 through D8's. Bunch of pans 627 to 613's. And a few off roads volvo 40 tons and 35's. And some Deere 35 tons (really are made by Bell) Which are fookin junk! All have there problems and there strong points. The volvo hoes are very impressive. Everything CAT we have LOVES fuel! Our 815 compactors won't go 10 hours on one tank usually.
