that same ***** just pulled me over tonight a year after the last incident for "license plate" again. This time he cited me for it so now i have grounds for harassment and filing a legitimate complaint against him.

I prefer to pull over before they ever hit their lights when I know they're going to pull me over, turn my dome lights on if its night time, roll the window down, then stare at them in the rear view like wtf? Then act semi annoyed that I was pulled over to begin with, and anything they say I was doing wrong I tell them I am fully aware that I was doing that with a sort of what's the big deal attitude. I know it sounds contrary to logical thought but I get pulled over all the time and I never get a ticket. My inspection has been out since march and my registration sticker as just been laying on the dash on the paper it comes on since last november and I hardly ever have a copy of my insurance and still no ticket
This matches what I saw on the ride along I did. The more a person deserves a ticket, the less likely they are to get one...I prefer to pull over before they ever hit their lights when I know they're going to pull me over, turn my dome lights on if its night time, roll the window down, then stare at them in the rear view like wtf? Youve got really nice cops in TX. Been pulled over in west TX multiple times and never been cited. One time I was driving back from Lubbock late at night pulling my enclosed cargo trailer and he said I was going 5 mph over. I was, 75 in a 70 cruise control set. He politely asked me to sit tight while he checked my info. As he is walking back to his patrol car, he walks behind my trailer and stops. In my passenger side rearview mirror I saw him takin a piss and was trying to hide behind my trailer for cover. I laughed and realized the only reason he pulled me over was because nature called. When you gotta go you gotta go.
Hah you're telling me! When I used to be nice and polite and act like I didn't know I was doing anything wrong I always got cited so I just decided if I'm going to get a ticket I might as well get the satisfaction of being a massive ***** to the cops. When I started doing that I got nothing :confused

I worked for CA state parks in high school, doing maintenance. I called the rangers (who are state police) on our radio about people training attack dogs in the park (seriously, WTF!?!). The ranger shows up, and treats ME (the guy in a state parks uniform who reported it) like sucm, no better than the people with the dogs. At least he kicked them out, but no other punishment for them.
Then again, I did know 1 (of the 5+ in our district) ranger who would ticket the people who deserved it, give breaks to those who weren't endangering others, and was nice to everyone, even the criminals he arrested. I have the utmost respect for him and the cops like him. He risked his life just as much as (often more than) the other rangers, and still respected people. This shows they can be nice and effective; this is how they should all act.X2
Heck, earlier this year a guy was totally stoned and racing down our road. He went off the (perfectly straight) road and took out 300 feet of fencing. We called 911, and 15 minutes later an ambulance was there to take the driver to the hospital. ANOTHER 20 minutes later (we're only 15 minutes from town), a cop finally shows up, and didn't even want to make a report. Took us 10 minutes to convince him to write down the damage just so we could give it to our insurance. He split as soon as he handed us a copy of the report, and wouldn't get the wrecked vehicle towed. The dirt bags friends end up showing up to get the vehicle, and in the end we had to load the wreck up for them...

Yea, i may or may not have also called him an incompetent ****, i was escorted by another cop to calm down while my truck was towed. I also didnt get a ticket for window tint though, instead he gave me reckless driving. even though it was raining, i was going under the speed limit, and the car was stopped on the interstate over a hill, but when we went to court they through it out anyways:thumb:
There are a lot of good cops out there doing their job right. But the current system keeps their mouths shut when their coworkers are *****s. And the chief backs it up.
Last year in Florida, a cop took his cruiser home at night. When he drove to and from work, it was routinely over 100mph, often WAY over 100mph. Citizens were complaining. He evaded attempts at being pulled over and had been cited in the past.
Finally a FHP officer chased him down. He did not pull over at first, but could not outrun her, and PULLED INTO THE CENTER MEDIAN. What a dickhead. She pulls her gun, not knowing if he was a real cop or not. A REAL cop shouldn't be that stupid.
Guess what? Nearly all the Florida LEO's including the guy's chief sided with him. Called her every filthy name in the book.
That is bullshit. Nobody gets to drive like a dick on a daily basis, and no cop should say it's cool.
Update: Recently the cop in question was recommended for discharge by Internal Division. But in order for him to actually be fired, a group of officers must sign off on it. In the mean time, multiple cops ran the arresting officer's data through the state computer in an attempt to harrass her and her family. They were mildly reprimanded.
They really need to fire the entire Miami PD and start from scratch. While officer Lopez was caught dozens of times driving 120 mph to work, 38 other officers were doing the same thing with no interference. No significant punishment was given. If a private citizen gets caught going over 120 dozens of times, you will spend time in jail and never drive again. These officers were off-duty, hence private citizens at the time of being caught on camera in the triple digits.

There are good and bad, I worked with some cops before, some are out doing the right thing, and were pulling people over for sort of BS reasons, but what they were really doing is trying to get a look in the car for stolen stuff. most stolen items were recovered in traffic stops, walk up and there is 10 dvd players in the car, start asking questions and take the guy in. you could tell in 30 seconds if you needed to snoop around or just tell the person to get the tag light fixed and move on. Of course it left the guy wondering WTF why did I get pulled over for a tag light but that was the real reason.
Some departments give a large proton of tickets back to the department, so they are the ones always running traffic to get nice toys. Not the cops fault, it is the city government that puts them in that situation. Two years ago me and my wife stopped at a accident in (LA on the 405)with air bags deployed and we called the 911 and watched three city cops drive by drive by and stare at the old woman bleeding from her face. thirty min later chp shows up and says well it wasn't there jurisdiction.
In vista we called the cops cause a lady had someone beating the crap out of her in the parking lot 45 min later of me having the guy in a arm bar they showed up and detained me. 45 min. Wtf

WOW are there alot of cop haters on here! If you think about how many police officers there are your bound to get a basket or so of that do not belong in the profession!
Some way cool stories and bad experiences but it's only a drop in the bucket of bad verses good. I agree you get some rookie patrolman that are gung ho can be very frustrating ,been there done that, but to say cop are useless? Really ? I'm aware there is a shit load of Gun toting Cowboys here I'd also defend my family and property but you cannot be everywhere all the time to protect your entire family. Certainly they have also outlawed vigilantes so stop watching Death Wish reruns!

It's hard to really call me a Cop Hater. I have the same opinion of them as DMV clerks. I don't hate them, but Adam 12 was put in the car crusher a long arse time ago.
Now if there are any LEO's reading this: I'm referring to Riverside County, California, from 1995 until today. That isn't all my observations of LEO's not doing what their job was created to do. Nearly all crime is petty crime. Nearly all scumbags start out there. Busting a shoplifter or an auto thief could save a life later on. It's better to deal with them before they shoot a citizen or a cop, than afterwards. Policing works on fear. If you think you'll have a shittty day if you break the law, you are less likely to do it. If you break the law and they ignore it, it sends a serious message that might not be able to be fixed.
I currently expect them to perform exactly like all other civilian government employees. Do as little as possible for the highest possible pay. This is not based on a couple of bad experiences, it's based on personally watching the parade for 40 years. Most cops are "good" people, but most people working at the DMV are "good" people too.

Someone's got to stick up for the cops here, lol.
I like the idea of cops, and what there SUPPOSED to do, it just gets me when that isn't what they really do.
I think the problem is the good cops go unnoticed because they don't harass normal people, and don't end up on the news. The bad ones do.
I don't think people expect a free pass to speed, etc., we just expect to be treated like humans when we do screw up. And it only takes a few bad experiences (especially with few or no good ones to balance it) until people hate cops as a rule. Perhaps we can get some stories of cops doing their job right to balance things out?
I'll start: my dad (before he retired) and his partner recovered more abducted children than any other cop in the state of CA. He would go all over the country, and occasionally out of country, to get the kids back. He got a California Legislature Assembly Members Resolution commending him. Authored by Sam Aanestad; Members Resolution No. 1301, dated May 6, 2001.

Your dad sounds like an awesome guy. The work would be a better place with more like him.
The bulk of my bad experiences have been with traffic/highway cops. The only good cop I know is so good that he was promoted right past traffic/highway and works accident recreation, and crime scene investigation. It sounds like your dad was a good cop.
