Sorry, I forget, but are there any threaded coolant ports in the Dmax block other than the sensor on the Tstat boss??

Thanks for any help.

Just the block drains that James mentioned in his post are the only ones I can think of too. You could tap that plate on the flywheel housing if you need something bigger.

Or the pipe downstream of the water pump

Thanks. I completely forgot about the drains. (Insert facepalm smilie here)
You guys dont happen to know what thread size those are, do you?

Oh, just trying to find a relatively simple way to add a coolant temp switch for electric fans. The preferred switch is 22mm, so its kind of unwieldy. There is another one that might work thats 14mm. Figured Id use an adapter into an existing port on the block.

Next questions:

What thread size is the temp sensor by the Tstats? I think its 3/8-18, not metric.

Also, would it be possible to run a T off that port with the sensor on one side and a switch off the other, or would that not work because its out of the actual coolant flow?

I would keep it in the coolant flow. Is there a big enough area where the t-stats are to just drill / tap another hole on top where the vent is? You could always weld a bung on the coolant outlet tube...

I had a feeling I probably should leave it in the flowpath instead of a stagnant area. There isnt any extra room near the Tstats, esp large enough to accommodate an M14 sensor.

I'm leaving the "welding a bung" as the last thing to try. I think that may be the only way to do it. Anyone have an extra upper inlet pipe they dont want?

Is it a simple single pole temp sensor? The fans I put on my old S10 used a 1/8NPT N/O sensor that will fit about anywhere, I was wondering if you could use a different style sensor? It doesn't need to be "heavy duty" if it's wired in with a relay.

I was going to use a dual-temp sensor (194 and 207) in order to get the 2speed fans to work.

Why not make something to "T" into the heater core hoses Tom ? I tapped the heater core supply line for my filter IIRC

I know...lots of inane questions. Just bear with me, ok?

Whats the thread size of that valve that feeds the turbo on the upper coolant pipe? M22?

Anyone have an extra coolant pipe off a junk motor that they dont want? Let me know.
