Will this not be updated to work with 01 TCM's?

ALL of the TCM OS's except one have those D5231, D5233 tables mapped out.

2004.5+ TCM OS's also have an additional table, D5232, "TCC apply slip limit at full throttle"...Ross said that D5232 does not exist in 2001-2004 LB7 OS's.

Go figure, the one 2001 TCM OS that I love and exclusively use (15175854) is the one that doesnt have those tables mapped out yet.

There are several 2001 TCM OS's. All of the 2001 OS's except 15175854 have the tables mapped, and all 2002+ TCM OS's have the tables mapped.

Cindy (cindy meyers, at EFILive) sent me an email saying that Ross is working on it and in the next public release, 15175854 will have the TCC protection tables mapped out. So in the mean time, I just switched to another 2001 OS, 15079907, which does have the TCC protection tables mapped.

The reason that 15175854 is my favorite, is because it shifts the best, and the adapts are slowed way down so you can "sneak up on the F'er" (as Mike says :D ) and it doesnt freak out. IE, you can go from a tow tune to a race tune and its right there...shifts perfectly every time. As you go progressively "newer" with the OS's, the adaptive learning seems to get smarter and smarter. So, late 2001 OS's are kinda okay, 2002 OS's are kinda okay, 2003-2004 LB7 OS's are a little worse, and 2004-2005 LLY TCM OS's are a disaster when you jump around on HP level without giving it a chance to relearn.

BUT...the kicker is that the 2004-2005 LLY TCM does have a huge redeeming factor that none of the other TCM OS's have.
The 04-05 LLY OS does NOT release TCC under part-to-full-throttle kickdown when the TCC is locked. So with an 04-05 LLY TCM OS, when you're on the highway in 5th locked, and you stuff it to go pass someone, the TCC stays locked through the 5-4 WOT downshift and never unlocks.

2001-2004 LB7 TCM OS's, under any locked downshift above 10% throttle, the TCM unlocks TCC, performs the downshift, and then relocks TCC. Its annoying because when you go to pass someone on the highway and do a WOT 5-4 downshift, the TCC unlocks, and you're sitting there, RPM's screaming, not accelerating for a second or so before the TCM relocks TCC and you actually start getting the power to the wheels again.

The only conditions in which a 2001-2004 LB7 TCM OS will do a locked downshift is under 10% throttle when in tow/haul mode...for grade braking purposes (because that would degrade grade-braking performance to unlock TCC during a grade-braking-downshift). Like I said, its annoying and I dont know why Allison programmed it that way on 2001-2004 TCM OS's, and then decided otherwise on 04-05 TCM OS's.

So yeah...there is no "perfect" TCM that combines everything.

My perfect/ideal TCM would be:

1) The shifting and slow-learning/adapts of 15175854
2) Auto high-idle support for LLY's (if you run 15175854, auto high-idle doesnt work on LLY's, on 2002+ TCM OS's, auto high-idle works)
3) WOT TCC-locked downshift programming of 04-05 LLY OS

Oh well. I can live without auto high-idle working, but TCC release on WOT downshift is really annoying on the 01-04 OS's. At some point I would like to try to compare bins in hex and see if I can add the 04-05 TCC attributes to the earlier OS's. Because I doubt anyone else is picky enough/cares enough to look into it....... :(

There are some other tables, D5073, D5074, D5075 that were added in the latest EFILive version too. I havent found out what they do yet. At first I thought they might be for the above mentioned issue (unlock on WOT downshift in the 01-04 OS's....but when I compared D5073, D5074, D5075 in both 01-04 and 04.5-05 OS's, they were identical....so obviously that mystery "unlock on WOT downshift" table is hidden and isnt mapped unfortunately.

D5067, D5068, D5069 "TCC WOT release" do nothing. Ive set those all to low MPH on 01-04 OS's and it still unlocks under WOT downshift. IMO there are a lot of Allison tables in EFILive that are either mis-labeled, or dont do anything at all.........

If this is what I logged for josh a while back, the lock up time is still slower than my lockup box. From what we could tell, the lockup box actually commands lockup in first gear and is full locked on the 1-2 shift. Using the TCM to command that lockup, it commands at the 1-2 shift and didn't full lock until close to the 2-3 shift. I left my lockup box on

Josh can tell you more than I can. I was just the test dummy! Lol

How much will that effect ET?

Probably negligible, but it seat of the pants it is the difference between "ok, there's lockup" and "HOLY S***" lol :thumb: :roflmao:

Sounds like you have an issue getting into wot mode with T/H off then.

If you get wot lockup in T/H you don't have the issue we're combating with this.

I don't know if the copilot is messing it up or not, sometimes it will lock up in fourth. What would stop wot mode when I am not in t/h?

Depends on the OS.

2004 and older TCM OS's dont have D5232. 2004.5+ has D5232.

So you would just adjust D5231 and D5233

In that case wouldn't you just need to adjust D5231, since D5233 is just a enable/disable by slip function, which is what the other two new tables are there for?

I'm serious I have a lot of customers who send me logs and they never actually get to 100% throttle position. They end up at 91 or so and that is not enough.

I don't have that problem, I'm at 100% throttle just after half pedal. Then again my 94-00 pedal has twice the voltage range as the 01-05 DURAMAX pedal. And I guess it's a good thing I haven't downloaded the update yet as I run the 5854 01 OS in my TCM as it's the only one that shifts right with my swap. And then theres that "other part" from the recent updates that doesn't apply to me, but bugs me it's in there.

What other part are you talking about? I haven't downloaded it yet.

I'm not to fond of the regional restrictions in the latest updates for the LML. I don't own one, nor will I ever own one. Just not fond of the software blocking emission tables based on me being in the US. They said they won't as of now take away LMM/LBZ deletes, but it just bugs me there is stuff in the software that I can't see and use because I'm in the states. I understand there legal position on the matter though, and it is what it is.

Saw some guy bragging about this. May have been when I was reading about the Super Man "Cheetahs"

Easy
Just 3 easy payments of $39.95 plus S&H will fix you right up! :roflmao:

But wait theres more, call now and we will include the other one for free, just pay shipping and handling.

Mike would never use the F word

Guess I need to update my v2... Last update was 2 years ago:roflmao:

Sounds like me, update it everytime someone asks me to put tunes in for them, wait so long that it ends up being an hour process just to get caught up. Then I can't figure anything out because its all new. Guess i'm old already. As long as they don't make a Windows 8 type interface ill suffice.

I don't care for them, but understand why they felt the need to protect themselves possibly. I really wonder if they need to though being out of the country. I guess its one of those did the gun kill the person or the person behind the trigger kill the person scenarios. EFI Live enables you by giving you the tool, but its up to the end user to decide what they will do with it.

I have some buddies in canadia, how do I register mine there so I can play with these tables lol.

Instead of offshore banking the new thing will be offshore tuning lol.

It just bugs me that there legal page said that you needed to
EFILive urges all of our US distributors, resellers, tuners and customers to educate themselves on their local regulatory bodys’ legal requirements for modifying road registered vehicles. Recently the US EPA has made it known that removing the DOC and/or DPF is illegal on any vehicle that is road registered in the US, even if the vehicle is being used on private property.
. This to me says it is up to the end user to be legal, but yet they went forward with the regional restrictions. There words were
At this time EFILive will not be removing any tuning features that are currently available to our customers.
, which means we can keep what we've had, but nothing new as far as emissions goes.

I understand there position on it, just bugs me the fact that something is there I can't use. And I guess I should have saved my PM's from last year because a member on the EFILIVE site told me how to get around it if they ever implemented it. I seen he was posting about seeing the tables, so it must have worked.
