Kurt something else is making the flexplate break. My stock original one has almost 100k miles on it and a built motor/twins, with zero problems.

Are the dowel pins still in place?

Yes ben and it was torque down with a torque wrench. I also went around it 5 times to be sure they where at the right torque. I torqued them to 100 foot pounds this time rather then 8 like i think they called for. And went in a star pattern. My converter bolts is my biggest concern right now. I think when i get a smoother shift my flex plate will be fine

Why don't you follow the correct torquing procedures? (FYI, you can pick up a torque angle meter from Auto Zone for $10)

For one thing you need to replace those 14mm hex bolt that hold the flex plate on and tq is very high on those bolts

Flywheel Bolt - Angular Tightening Method

1st Step 58 lb ft

2nd Step 60 degrees

3rd Step 60 degrees

Some how some way the bolt missed the flywheel. The may my luck has been going latly i figured it would eat the bellhousing and chew threw the flywheel. Im just glad the good lord has been with me so far on this ol girl. 5 is all thats holding it in. Im trying to get it to shift easyier i think that will help also. It will be a couple months before i take snowflake to suncoast. But now thats shes mine im starting with the build tranny:D

This is one of those things that make you wonder why a stupid little bolt can create so much work:mad: But thats what it should do.....create work, not an I'll try it on 5 bolts additude:confused: Please do the right thing and fix it the right way. If you insist on not fixing it till you do the trans...then DONT drive it till you do the trans. Pretty basic stuff. I know ssome people that opperate with the additude you have, but they have next to unlimited budgets;)And they runn stuff like that risking blowing it up just so they can make one race and do one thing.....thats not how they build their stuff

Simon I dont think anyone was being serious about actually welding a lug onto the converter. :)

ben

In all seriousness you could do this....I wouldn't recomend it to anyone but I have cut several converters appart to clean them out and then welded them back together. You can do it but you have to have some kind of clue what your doing:baby:
