I have been kicking this around for some time now. I have not been using the the truck as much as I used too, and with the price of fuel going through the roof, I think I would be better off with something else for now. I am by no means saying that I won't get back into it.:D

I have been looking at Jeep Wrangler JK's because that is what the wife wants for her next vehicle. I have talked to a couple dealers about trading even up on one, they seem very interested.

We already have a Honda which we split driving to work, because I work nights and she works days, so this helps us out on fuel.

So my question is, " Am I making the right decision, for now?"

A JK wont save any money on fuel the gutless 3.8 will be on the floor the whole time.

I would just tough it out I have realized anything I actually care to drive won't get good gas mileage

EPA rating on a JK 15 city 17 combined 19hwy

My truck gets 16 and I don't drive it nice yeah the fuel cost more per gallon but its still nowhere near worth it IMO

If you already have a gas saver from back in forth to work who cares about the other times. I get in my truck and drop the hammer to vent. That is my cocaine. If I didn't have it who knows what I'd do. Plus that JK isn't going to save you much and definitely won't pull anything. JMO

Yup like was said above, keep the truck. You'll be kicking yourself in the ass everytime you're out driving and see a Dmax going by you. This is a drug man. Almost impossible to quit cold turkey;)

After I bought my truck I sold my Ford Aspire that got 40+ mpgs. Still kick myself in the head about in sometimes, but then I roll the window down in the Dmax, put the hammer down and smile, because I know that my truck is badass even if I am getting half the milage!:thumb: Anyways, if i wanna save gas I just get on the motorcycle:).

Don't think I won't drive to Van Wert just to kick you square in the @ss.

Keep the LBZ. The trade in they are offering is not worth how well you have cared for your truck. And just think, when you are ready to get back in, you may get a used truck that someone like my brother had.

Just keep a mileage tune on and take good care of her until times get better. Then we'll turn it all the way up.

You don't want the killa mobile thats for sure..

Steve keep the beast! The jeeps are gas guzzlers and POS on the inside. Like everyone said just park it or even buy a cheap beater to drive until things turn around.

I have the sam situation as you where i have my truck but we also have a hyundai elantra tht gets great mileage and my wife works nights and i work days so the truck only gets driven a couple times a week, i cant afford to have mine either but i will never get rid of it because i know a year or less down the road i would be kicking myself because it is the truck i have always wanted and still one of the most desireable trucks out there in my eyes! Just tough it out steve, you will kick yourself for selling it.

People usually ask the people who will give them the answer they want to hear... and you posted this on here so i that tells you right there that your subconcious (sp?) relly wants to keep it:D

Well I don't want everyone coming up here and kicking my ass. The wife told me if that's really what I want to do, then she was ok with it, but she said this is the truck you always wanted, so be sure your willing to give it up.

I went out and hammered on it tonight and I just don't think I could go without having that power. Anyone have a cheap beater they want to sell me? :D

Cheap beater is the way to go. A buddy of mine bought one for 500 bucks and it was only $16 a month to insure and got twice the mileage of his truck. I have been looking for an old toyota or datsun here lately to commute with.
