in the buckeye state
I am talking about all the additive you had to dump in it to keep it running.

30.00 is all i dumped into for 55-60 gallons of fuel..
one 911 bottle is good for 30g

it ran just would limp climbing a grade then 6.5 stock lift pump wasnt quiet strong enough to shove slightly gelled B20 through a 2 micron fuel filter at full throttle

what are you guys up north running for fuel? D1? last fill up was with D2 and used lots of the white bottle PS cold weather stuff and having lots of issues jelling. Not sure if I just got a lot of water or what but nothing in the water seperator on the AD
power service is an emulsifier so you won't typically see water in the separator

Hey man, where did you fill up? Just curious since I gelled up today as well (along with 4 other people) . Trying to find out if its related to a certain station. Got a flightline heater going in the engine bay right now LOL. Gotta get it running so it'll cycle the bottle of 911 I dumped in it.

SeaFoam.
Works awesome for eliminating water. That and a little conditioner for extra lube and good to go.
It's a must the farther north you go as Arctic fuel has more of whatever they use to cut the fuel. I know they use Kerosene in russia lol!

Kerosene isn't really that effective though for gelling ... you need to use alot of it to make a difference.

The filter in my dad's LML froze up yesterday on the side of 35W. He didn't have a filter with him so I grabbed one and did it for him.

Nothing like changing a filter when it's 10* and 25mph winds. LML sure is a PITA compared to my LBZ's. I pulled it and the filter was dry.

Froze up on me again, I'm going away from the white bottle PS. I'm thinking I had a little bit of the bad fuel left in the truck and it clogged the fitlers again. I'm going to a 10 micron on the AD and making a bypass for the 2 micron cat filter that I can open up if needed. Truck would not run at 20 below 0 (-49 windchill sucks btw) even with 300 watts of heaters on the filters. I filled up with a 50/50 mix of winter blend fuel, I really think it is just the filters clogged up from the last shit fuel I got

The truck stop at the bypass and 2 is where I got the shit fuel

like I said, I'm going with that new filter set up, going to run 400 watts of heaters on them. I'm also going to order this bad boy
http://www.diesel-filters.com/14257-racor-nomad-heater-500w-12v-gnd/

but before I can run that I have to put a upgraded alt on there, thinking of going with this one if they can ship it sooner than they say

https://www.dcpowerinc.com/fit/2002~Chevrolet~Silverado~6.6L-Duramax-Diesel/8237-300-spx.html

If only a 10 micron filter, being able to bypass the 2 micron filter, and 900 watts of heater on the fuel doesn't do it I don't know what will

A few updates

It did reclog my filters, so I would say to anyone out there carry 2 spare sets for everything. Just for grins I wanted to see what would happen if you tried to save a filter, so on the fleet guard filter on the AD I drained it, filled it up with 911 and heated it up some, dumped it out and it looked like brown $hit. I tried to get it clean, and then put back on, took the line off before it got to my CAT filter and turned the lift pump on. It then dumped black fuel out for 3-4 seconds. Now this was ok for me, since I have a 2 micron cat filter between the lift pump and my engine, but if you end up dumping 911 into a non-new filter and trying to use it, it will puke into your CP3 (so another reason to carry 2 spare sets of filters).

Now, while I had water sep off the airdog, I notice the fuel would just trickle out, not pour out like normal. So it ended up that my sump must have has ice in it (water is heavier than fuel so it will settle down in the sump and block it up). A blast of heat and a good shot from the air compressor into the tank blew it right out.

So, in short, carry 2 extra sets of filters, don't try to save a iced up used filter by taking it off and putting 911 into it, and fuel sumps like to ice up and can be cleaned with heat and air into the tank

Hey man, dunno WTF is up with the forum. I usually get notified when theres an update to a thread but never happened . Anyway, I filled up at the shell by marketplace when I gelled. Figures. I usually fill up from Simonsons (not a truck stop but I've never had an issue with shit fuel or gelling from there in the past 1.5 years)*** KNOCK ON WOOD*** since theres a pretty high ammount of people cycling through the diesel pumps. As for the spare filter, definately a must up here. Even though I've been running the XPD optilube winter blend, I still gelled. Last year I ran white powerservice and no issues. My AD was definately less than enthused about the cold though. It sounds pissed but so far it hasn't locked up. One thing I've noticed for all you LMM guys, when it's cold as fawk out, watch the Fuel Filter % remaning. If it starts dropping like a rock, you're gelling up. Also noticed that on the way into work when I was trying to gell up on 83, my Fuel Rail Press gauge was going ape-shit and spiking all over the place right before it limped into "Reduced Engine Power" mode, so keep an eye out for that.
