Well this was fun. Only pushing about 35psi when she let go.

Slid it up further, readjusted the boost tube and made it 3 miles and it let go again. Whole inside was cracking apart upon further inspection. So this was the bandaid

Wouldn’t let the truck push more than 10psi boost, ran 20mph the last few miles up the hill and then could hit about 50-60 the rest of the way into flag. I’m not sure if the old girl is pissed that I’m retiring her or the fact she’s just had her fun. I’d say she’s just had her fun .

The funny thing is, I purposely bought a good used stock boot for the turbo to intercooler tube as it has 220k on it. Figured it would be the first to go. Nope, the “billy bad ass” boot couldn’t take the abuse and I happen to throw the old one away about a year ago saying “I won’t need it, these ppe are way stronger”

So I’m looking around flagstaff for one and napa will have a new one in tomorrow if I want to go that route

I carry a spare stocker for that reason. I think it’s the heat from the turbo blasting straight into that 45* corner. One day I’ll stop being a cheap ass and buy the hsp straight tube and ditch the crappy 45.

Ya know, I’d agree accept the stock big 90* lb7 one im still running has given me 0 issues. I think the cords in the boot rotted out too. I could easily tear the last of it off where it blew.

I’m going to change that whole tube setup so straight small boots go on.

No this one is custom. They make a standard drop in but mine is a dual pass for more cooling which means lots of customizing

So i was playing in Mexico tuesday and wednesday, messing with tuning and just enjoying lots of power lol. i was having some studdering issues at the upper rpm that was rail pressure limits i had missed.

yesterday, in the midst of all that, i loaded the last tune after i found the missed table and hammered on it in 5th gear. About half way through 5th, i hear the belt start coming apart so i back out of it and pull off to a side street. Belt didnt jump but it cut a rib off.

now ive never been real happy with the 149" belt on a lb7 belt routing. you cant get the damn thing tight enough and when you finally do via clocking the tensioner as ive done in the past, the belt start hitting it and rubbing its self through (hence i lost a rib). i literally had my tensioner sitting straight up and down to get the belt tight enough to hold well (it sat horizontal to the ground once the belt was on). after looking over the larger pulley PPE provides in the dual fueler kit (4" idler pulley), i started looking for a 4.5" or 5" pulley. seemed there was enough room for a 5". I couldnt bump up the two little idlers under the alternator as the belt would touch and i didnt want to give up my factory catch can for a LLY acc bracket.

i came up with this. Dayco 89013 127mm ribbed idler pulley. 127mm is 5" pulley. cost all of 17 bucks and sadly its plastic BUT i was more interested in if this would work before i either hunted down a steel one, made a steel/aluminum one or had someone make one. It uses the same bearing as the PPE pulley so the little bolt adapter that goes in the 17mm ID bearing drops right in the new pulley. Surprisingly the offset is the same between them too so everything lined right up. did a quick test fit, reclocked the tensioner back to stock setting and she was perfect! pulled the pulley back off, threw it on the lathe and cut the ribs out.

Ignore my chewed up belt. new one wont be in till tomorrow and im going to pick up a new tensioner as well now since ive swiss cheesed this one from modding it over the last 2 years.

did a few 4k rpm pulls in 5th gear and not a single issue! very happy with this now. curious how long the plastic stays good so we shall see. the stock tension is a plastic wheel as well and they hold up pretty damn well.

Well I have fought with myself for some time now on keeping the limo... I badly wanted to keep it for sentimental reasons but it’s honestly not practical and the old girl is going to sit for quite some time. Not going to let it sit and rot, someone else can do that or tear it apart or drive the bitch. So she will be going up for sale. I won’t be listing it in state, I would rather it leave here so I don’t see it. That said, you or anyone is interested, let me know. Starting point will be 35k for the truck as it sits. I’ll have an official for sale thread after the weekend that will have pics and full details about it inside and out. I feel 35k is fair for the work done. The only thing about the truck I don’t like is the paint or I’d ask for more. Again, for sale thread will have those details though.

I don’t see it selling fast but should someone “gotta have it”, I still do not have my new truck (it’s in production) and I will, at min, need the truck for thanksgiving camping trip. After that, she can go. Obviously I’m not rushing to sell it and don’t need to but I’m not a dick head about price either if it’s one of you guys on here.

Now I’m not out of the game. Eventually I’ll build a rc/sb truck (not sure on year) with my kids if they would like. Maybe a first truck for either one? Who knows what they will like when they get older but if they don’t want it, maybe I’ll con my dad into doing a 72 pick up with a Dmax in it. No frame transplant stuff either.
