Charged for fixing coding tuning?

Just curious if anybody else thinks it is wrong to charge someone to fix a coding tune that they built? I sold my truck and it is now coding bc the new owner actually uses it to pull a work trailer everyday instead of me pulling boats occasionally. I asked my tuner to adjust it for the p299 that it throws bc of a 4094 avnt and he wants me to pay him? I think thats ridiculous, what did I pay him for the first time? A truck diesel truck tune that isnt capable of pulling a decent load on flat florida terrian? Am I wrong in thinking this should be adjusted for free? Does anyone actually stand behind what they sell anymore other than myself???:mad:

Did he originally tune it for that turbo? If so, he obviously didn't do it right in the first place and should fix it. If you swapped the turbo after he tuned it, then I'd say you owe him if you want more work done. That's assuming the tuner in question doesn't have a upgrade retune policy.

It was originally tuned for the 4094 and he was aware from the get go that it coded occasionally on me bc he called me out of the blue one day to ask me just that question. I am not happy about this...:(

I have a son due in under a month and dont need to be wasting money on tuning I already paid for...:mad:

I can't understand how someone is willing to sacrifice their reputation over money they're not really owed. I've seen lots of shops make these types of mistakes over the years. I'm assuming the tune is a locked one?

Who's tuning is it? Have you tried explaining why you don't feel you should have to pay for this since it was supposed to be tuned for this turbo?

I told him the exact same thing I posted above. It codes on the new owner bc he actually tows with it...

Its his tuning and his responsibility, the truck never really ran like it should have I just delt with it like a moron. When I brought my new boat home from Maryland I had to keep my V2 plugged in the entire time bc my truck would limp every 30 mins or so in heavy interstate traffic. The tune is terrible. No question it is a real safety issue. I admitt I should have addressed it earlier but I never really towed much so it wasnt apressing issue for me...

That's one of reason I switched from said to tuner to the tuner in my sig. Everyone's shit stinks whether they think it does or not. I'm much happier with the service I have now.

I have Korey's tuning and anytime I mod the truck he will adjust for it free of charge. If it was never right they should have fixed it for you. Have you guys talked about it over the phone?

That is really amazing. Maybe he feels that once you sold it that ends his obligation. I might would feel that way too but this would be a simple fix unless there are other issues causing this. Talk to him personally if you have not. I am sure he would be a fair person about it.

I had the exact same thought. The only problem is he's trying to get something fixed that wasn't right from the beginning, opposed to getting some extra tuning done in for free.

I'm gonna give the tuner one more shot at fixing it for free (i sent him another email) other wise I'm gonna get sone professional help from the best diesel forum on earth..:)

I hope he stands behind his work like how he earned his reputation...
