CC/LB single piece driveshaft

Bringing this back up. Any issues doing this with a raised truck?

Mine is lifted as well and it would t cause any more issues as long as your pinion angle is correct

I just did a trans on a 2015 CC/LB Denali a few weeks ago, and it had a one piece rear drive shaft.

2013 has the aluminum shaft, about 84" of tube!

James like Russ said in an earlier post I used the DMax Store shaft and it is much smoother when I first put it in I had 355/60s and 4" blocks now on have now lowered it 2" all-around and on 325/60 never a problem just lowered it for better front shaft angles.
I looked at chasing the P/Ns and sourcing it myself but the price at the DMax Store was better than what I was finding. Did the 1480 joins as well...:thumb:

A 4" steel driveshaft can reach critical speed at 72" of tube length on a daily driven truck like ours, depending on the speeds you drive at!

Judging from the picture, looks like GM stepped up the tube diameter to 6" or 7" aluminum to address the critical speed issue, it wasn't related to driveshaft angle.

I tuned a c5500 Kodiak Dmax that was a flatbed truck converted to a rollback by my friend. They stretched the frame and extended one of the driveshaft sections instead of adding a 2nd carrier bearing. The driveshaft was 84" of steel tube. After tuning it the driveshaft blew out from under the truck at 85+ mph when he was test driving it with me...scary deal, the broken shaft took a chunk out of the pavement and launched the rear axle about a foot off the ground!

The carrier bearing support needs to be removed, the driveline would be to long for 2x4 long bed crew cab and extended cab trucks, the 4x4 models is just right...


Driveshaft: PN 23251132 $422.10

Pinion yolk kit: PN 19257639 $127.50 This part comes with a new seal, washer, and nut so no need to order the pinion seal separately.

Retainer: PN 23170499 $7.78 NEED 2 this is the u joint strap.

Retainer bolt: PN 11548472 NEED 4 these are your strap bolts. You can use the old ones but I chose to get new.
I also chose to replace the transfer case output seal, this is a pricey one and you may or may not want to do it.

Seal: PN 12478093 $62.04

Total: $637.78
Tax: $38.27
Grand total: $676.04

My carrier bearing is shot so looking at a single piece driveshaft. I see the kits they sell and looks like it is just the front slip yoke, driveshaft, and rear cross over u-joint.

Could you just get the driveshaft and 2 crossover u-joints?

I went to my local dealer and there prices were crazy. After a "discount" they wanted over $700 for 3 u-joints and 1 carrier bearing.

I did mine about 2 years ago and went to a 5" single on my 2011 3500 CCLB. The driveshaft is out of Driveline Speciaties in Texas. I am running close to 1000 hp and had no issues. It's an aluminum shaft.

Here is the part number off of my one piece driveline if it helps ya out. 23251132. I googled it and looks like you can get them for about $450 from GM parts giant. It came with the 1480 u joints so i had to upgrade the rear yoke.

Cost is a factor for me. Sounds quite a bit cheaper to get the 1480 to 1410 u-joint vs the pinion yoke kit and new u-joint straps.

So, the diff yoke kit above is what you got? I wonder if the new yoke with balancer is a different weight then the orignal and would be better paired with the new shaft?
