I'm tired of the problems I'm having with the LMM. I was thinking I could have the dealer flash my ECM as a LBZ. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Anyone know if I'll have problems?

dealer will not do it... They are regulated by the epa. They get caught doing that and they'll be looking at some very healthy fines. assuming you brought the truck in, but I just saw your tag and I now assume you mean just walking in with an ECM. A good dealer would check to see what cal was in it, but if you find the right dealer they may just flash it.

To make an LMM into an LBZ, you have to swap over to an LBZ ECM. Then you run into the problem that LMM uses all CAN bus for vehicle coms, and LBZ uses CAN BUS for ECM, TCM, and GPCM, but uses standard class 2 data bus for most of it. Basically the LBZ and LMM use 2 completely different languages for the vehicle control systems. Ben did a nice write up here somewhere on the differences awhile back.

My dads LMM won't build boost. Mine jumped to 5000+ pulse for no reason. It'll run fine for a month then find another code to throw. Maf, baro. It never runs right, inconsistant. Both LMM's on the same O.S react completely different to tuning changes. My truck acts like I fine tuned it one day and the next it feels like I have too much timing and pilot.

Just tuned a LMM with a DSP5 from Rob, you can't tell the difference from tune 1 to 5, lined up next to my LML there is only about 2 truck lengths difference from tune 1 to 5 and it's suppose to be a 100+hp difference... I am thinking I may have ran into one these damn LMM's like everyone else is having trouble with:rolleyes:

What would be involved in switching from LMM to LBZ? all sensors, wiring harness, ecm change work? Or would it be as deep as instrument cluster and lots of other crap?
